I just bought a 3v and I love it. Never was a big fan of the 2v.

I pay the same for insurance for my DD Truck as I did for my old 05 mustang GT Vert...... Same coverage....

GTO has the worse internal rating of any car I have ever owned: 28

My Ranger is an 11 (the best). Most "shitty, outdated, body on frame wonders that only fleets keep alive" and SELF INSURE do wonders to plummet the ratings with no claims and give me a nice cheap rate. I cannot believe your rate on a 05 Stang would be the same as any Ranger.

If he was looking for speed, he should look away from Ford and GM for that matter. For those prices look at a E46 M3, basically beat anything from GM or Ford on a road course, if that's your thing. But if you live your life a quarter mile at a time, then you cannot be helped.

I can set him up with a solid suspension package for pretty cheap that would show an E46 M3 it's tail lights.

The simple fact of the matter is that if you are looking to go fast, the Mustang is arguably the best platform around. I don't know of any brand/make that has a larger aftermarket than Mustangs. I mean you can buy a ton of factory parts from Ford Racing PP. The haters are jealous of Ford's success.
I think even you may have missed the point of my thread

I'm not looking to go fast, or handling... I Like Mustangs for the way they feel and look. Even if an LSX DID handle better, was faster, better aftermarket, cheaper than a mustang, I wouldn't care (And the ONLY comparable LSX Powered car is the 04-06 GTO's, which I have no interest in)

I'm going to let my hunt 'stay' on 05+'s because I feel its been confirmed in this thread that its worth the premium without a doubt.

Okay, I will bookmark this. I don't know what a stock Mustang is, lol. It won't be long until you do some cheap mods.

Lots good, price is bad...

the 2010's still haven't really been 'plummeting' in price as much as I'd hoped they would with the intro of the 5.0's for 2011.

Market forces will dictate that over time. Of course anyone owning a 3v right now is tryign to squeeze the most they can out of it. Human nature. But once the 5.0 has been on the market for a while te 3v will have to sell at a discount relavent to the 5.0. If not who would buy a 3v, if for the same $$$ they can have 87 extra HP?

It has been a learning experience start to finish and if I run 15s, or 13s, at the end of the day I built that truck and am proud.

05-09 GT's run low 14's realistically. a 13.9 pass in a press car driven by a professional is not going to be easily achievable.

I've seen 05-09 GT's crack into the 12's for less than 2 grand (Intake/gear/tire/canned tune/Cut-out), they respond well to modifcations. Stock for stock, just about any LSX will be faster, but as mentioned multiple times by multiple people, that isn't the topic, nor is 'bang for the buck' with mods for Ford Vs Ford, OR Ford Vs GM.

After test driving the 04, I'm going to have to stick with shopping for 05+'s... The interior REALLY is worlds nicer, thank you for those that had constructive input :-)
lots of misinformation about 3v in this thread. i am far, FAR away from prodriver, i ran 13.6 at 106 in my 3v with a crappy 2.1 60'. stock tires, not aired down, stock exhaust, shifter, tune, etc. granted its a bullitt, but its not that far off from a regular gt, and if i got the launch down, i probably couldve shaved a few more tenths off. gt 3v cars are solid mid-high 13 second cars. 2v gt mustangs are solid high 13-low 14 second cars. manual transmission coupes in aforementioned applications. that is, with an average driver/conditions outside

the op doesnt seem to care about that though. i had a 2v gt for a number of years, started off stock auto, modded to bolt on cam 150 shot tko 600 car. fun cars in general, but i much prefer my 3v mustang

Maybe with PERFECT conditions. BONE STOCK 3v's generally dont get into the 13s on average conditions (which is what should be used considering perfect conditions exist maybe once or twice a year). When I say Bone stock, i mean literally off the showroom floor. My 60' times were around the same, and mine wasnt bone stock and i ran consistent 14's. Granted the conditions SUCKED, an average driver should expect low-mid 14s out of a stock 3V.

Lol not trying to turn this into a pissing match but you are definitely wrong. Do the math to prove it. Maybe at a high altitude track, or a combination of a high humidity/100 degree day/heat soaked motor/and incapable driver would you net consistent 14s in a 3v. Check cmc, or s197forums for specific examples if you don't believe me. Sure 3v cars can run consistent 14s if the car isn't running right, incapable driver, auto on a bad weather outing

Im very proud of the select people that can get a bone stock 3v into the 13s. But for the AVERAGE driver, one should EXPECT to see 14s. That's what they run. I don't care what like maybe 10-20 ppl did on some stupid forum. If dude wants a 3V he should expect it to go 14s if its stock. Its not about math. Im not talking about correction factors. Im talking about real times with time slips. I have those. Im not stock. And im FAR from a bad driver.
