So, they said that the last contact with town was a week prior, for supplies, making it seem like it's desolate and in the middle of nowhere. But the delivery dude and the cops go there pretty easily.

One... did anyone catch what the A.P.F. stood for (agency) ? The character that Jodie Foster plays is the chief of it. Second, I did not know Christoper Eccelston (the 9th Doctor) was going to be in this! Last thing I saw him in was The Leftovers (also HBO).

Yeah, kind of what I was thinking. I would have expected them to use an actual agency. They keep referring to Kali Reis's character as "Trooper", so I was figuring an Alaska State Trooper? But she seems to favor more of a Tribal officer. Either way, they're two different agencies with different jurisdictions.f

The Native girl used to be APF but got sent to AST because she cant let that cold case go from what I gathered this first episode....

I imagine its going to hinge on al lot of Native stuff with it being that far above the arctic circle.
