Just picked this up for $123 shipped the guy at leisure hobbies says they are indestructible. They were sold out at the hobby shop which sounded like a winner. The reviews on you tube are all solid.
I’ll have to check that out. My boys are bugging me for a “big/fast” RC truck. They’re not about the Meijer specials anymore, ha

Is there a drone out that is able to be flown outdoors while Still being affordable? It’s for my 7year old whom is obsessed with rc vehicles and all he ever asks for. I believe he owned every single one from Walmart of the past couple of years and even has his own Traxxas slash.

purchased him a $40 drone from bass pro last year and it couldn’t fly outside, absolutely uncontrollable with any wind. Would like to stay around the 1-150 price range at most.

I was at leisure hobby’s over the summer and heard the guy that works there that the katana buy imex is almost un breakable and what a bargain it is. Didn’t think much of it and about a month later a video came thru on youtube after watching it I had to have one. Leisure hobbies was sold out so I went to the website and imex had coupon for 20% off so I ordered it and 3 days later I got it. The katana is a blast to drive and has working lights comes with everything and a charger. I was hesitant but it had great reviews and parts are sold at your local hobby shops.

Just bought an SCX24 in impulse tonight. I wanted something like this just for driving around in the backyard/etc when I'm bored. I have some crappy old landscaping/rocks that is perfect for it.

I drove it around for a few minutes out there but it was too dark. But I can already tell that I'm going to want to do some things to lower the CG and make it a little wider. It flops over pretty easily.

I have not built a dedicated RC space, but part of me is considering. I do after all have a 2 spare rooms, plus storage lol. I've just been using the garage to do it.

My old Hot Bodies LSP-R with Kingsheadz upgrades + Aluminum CNC'd knuckles and carries from a Kyosho MP7.5.

it was powered by a ported Novarossi 528XR. I've never driven a nitro car with as much power as this thing had. The RPM was insane, the torque used to regularly melt the clutch shoes.

I took it to the Elgin BMX park with some friends, it got muddy, and i finally broke it for the first time, and it was the LAST time. I replaced the plastic carrier with a aftermarket CNC'd 7075 Carrier hub meant for a Kyosho MP 7.5.

This mud was like concrete. Took forever to clean the truck up.

And just before i took both toys to Monster Jam to play in their half time show. The RC club used to get invited to play with our RC's in the big arena while the Monster Truck drivers were resting. Was a blast. Spent alot on replacement parts.

And a shot from the old Busse Bash with my cars. I own the Calsonic 350Z, the blue Lambo, the White 8th buggy, and the General Lee is my HB LSP-R.

Part of me wants a limitless. I do like them, but I already have a 1/7th scale on-road, and sadly there isn't much around here that makes it useful. I originally bought it when I was going to Leisure Hours Raceway to run on their outdoor on-road track which was plenty fun.

Or when the RC group was big and we took over the Kohl's lot near 83 & St Charles Rd in Elmhurst. We had probably 40-50people there every Thursday night doing drag races or circle track racing.

Yea finding areas big enough for the limitless really limits it haha. I tried being able to use some local runways around here like I see in you tube videos, but that was a no go. But I can run it on 3s, 4s, 6s, or 8s, so I can still have fun with it.
Yeah, I usually run my cars in 4S, even though I built them to run 6S for stupid power. Even on 4S they are almost too fast for a track.

I had them out with the neighbors in their backyard track and they could not believe the torque I had on hand. I rarely used full throttle, even on the straights.

My Truggy oddly enough is the most nimble of the toys because of the way it transfers weight under acceleration and braking. Under acceleration it just hooks up and goes fairly straight with excellent lift off oversteer. So I drive it hard into a corner, lift, turn in, and the backend drifts around, then when the nose is pointing where I want to go I roll back onto the throttle and it pulls itself straight. But never all throttle, because even on 4S, it will break loose with a heavy trigger finger. Its really fun to drive though.

I smoked the center diff on both my on-road, and truggy at the end of the season though. Frustrating. I need to rebuild the diffs for all the cars, too old.

Speaking of HotBodies LSP-R, I just ordered the needed Diff Gears for my 1/8th scales.

Ordered the Hot Bodies D8T hardened steel spider gears and cross-shafts for the differentials. The OEM gears in my cars were the aluminum ones. Which under brushless torque were lucky they lasted as long as they did.

The hardened steel gears would probably break the plastic diff case before the gears themselves break.

OFNA used to make Torsen diffs, however I always worried that the hard abuse I put my stuff through would cause the diffs to break. But each diff was like $120 back in the day, and if I can still get one, I'm sure the price is just as high.

The cost of parts in a standard plastic cased diff with Hardened steel gears is much less, and WAY more power potential.

I could also convert the center diff to a spool to lock the front/rear split at 50%. And that would definitely handle a ton of power, probably cause instant back-flips on 6S too.
