I will admit... W10 has streamlined laptop builds so much. I can have a refurbished laptop with an SSD and all job related software/stuff into a user's hands within an hour and a half, maybe 2. Granted we don't use MDT/SCCM.

...aaaaaaaaaand I'm now going down the rabbit hole of MDT.

Ran the Windows 10 update this morning on my desktop. Doing a clean install fuck upgrades. Hopefully my shit activates or else im stuck buying a key it seems.

No idea where my Windows 7 license came from.

From what I remember it only activates if your current Windows 7 installation is active. Thats why you have to run it as an "upgrade" and not a clean install.

Thats how my current gaming PC is active. Because I installed Windows 7 on it and upgraded to Windows 10, then after activation with MS, I nuked the disks and clean installed. It activates via digital license now.

The lovely free windows 10 pro workaround is to download a cracked & activated windows 7 ultimate. Then do the free windows 10 upgrade... You'll end with an activated windows 10 pro for free.

Mine worked fine with no issues. I ran the "upgrade" but selected fresh install during setup.

Word is mega fucked for me. Documents open wrong, images dont show up and when you try to edit them, it just shows a bunch of random text and shit from teh document. Half the document then vanishes....no clue wtf is going on.

yeah definitely run windows updates. when it says "you are updated!" run it again, reboot and run again. It doesn't always grab all the updates so you may need to check a few times.

i mean, when it rebooted and windows 10 came up. did you setup an account using your microsoft/xbox login? or just the usual same login you used for 7?

the reasoning is, if you used a microsoft account (or add one now and login) it will link your windows and office keys to that account. so its easier to reinstall and not have to worry about keys.

ok so you do have your office keys linked to your microsoft account. most likely not a cracked office then. those get flagged usually

I didnt sign into windows, period. Was never asked.

But as I said, I loaded up Office and logged in using my MS / Xbox login and I'm all set. I've got something running that I cant interrupt but I'll uninstall / reinstall Word later and report back.
