Try updating your video drivers to fix the Word issue. I've seen crazy shit like that happen after an upgrade and a video driver update fixed it.

Good to know. Haven't tried using that in years. I shall try it again. Most of my Excel time is at work, so I use Excel anyways, but if I need something at home, the free ones work more than good enough

Excel is still top dog in my eyes. They just have the interface nailed compared to the free ones. Free ones still feel dated.

I will fully agree with that statement. More so they are my go to so I don't have to pay for office 365 on 3 computers at home

i have a couple setup that way too, but windows 10 likes to nag you every now and then about "features you are missing" or "linking your account for ease"

I'll get around to fixing the computer. Open office and Google docs works fine for now, thankfully. I'd be more upset if it was excel.

All fixed. I completely removed everything (rather than do the "full repair" which reinstalls), and made sure to choose 64bit. Everything works now. Dunno if I was running 32 before or what, but hey, fixed.

How long does it take for something to show up in the task manager showing the upgrade is in progress? I'm trying to upgrade from windows 7 to 10 using instructions from the link on page 2.

It should be pretty immediate once you run that file with powershell. Make sure youre looking at the processes and not apps

Still having problems. I get it downloaded, it checks for updates, then this screen pops up. If I start over, I have to redownload it all again.

I had that same issue when trying to upgrade a system at work from Windows Server 2008R2 to Server 2016 (basically the same as going from Win 7 to 10).
If I recall, it was because the system was missing the recovery partition or the partition was too small. I can't remember exactly which, but I do remember that I used a partition tool to fix the issue.
