I've had good luck with Preen. But you've got to put it down before the weeds start (obviously).
I have commercial weed killer from a buddy who works for a fertilizing company.
I was talking about something like below.

YouTube the double dark mix. Green county fertilizer makes a 7-0-0 called Greene effect that’s 6% iron, and a product called microgreene that’s another 3% iron that has a bunch of micronutrients your lawn needs. So about $60 and I’ll be able to feed micronutrients and darken my ~4500 square feet for 2 years. Going to try it 3-4 days before Memorial Day and see how it goes.

Just ordered Greene effect and micro Greene.
As well as the dethatch, liquid aerator and root growth stimulator.

I’ve become the “Hey you kids, get the fuck off my lawn” guy!

I’ve fully given up on my landscaping and ready to pay someone to come fix it to the point I just have to worry about mowing it. The dandelions are fucking everywhere and pretty sure I have 3 trees that will need to be replaced along with replacing 5 bushes in the front of the house that I think are fine but look like absolute shit.

2 years into owning a home and I’m ready to go back to a condo ?

I don’t really like those hose end sprayers they have. I used them once last year and found it was hard to get it to cover the square footage it said it did. Feel like a tank sprayer is necessary for liquids, or also have used the Ortho Dial n Spray

Tried something new on the creeping Charlie in my yard. Did a little research and found that triclopyr was supposed to be the most effective at killing ground ivy. Went on domyown.com and bought 8 oz of Triclopyr Ester for $21. Recommended 3/8-3/4 of an oz per 1000 square feet so I met in the middle and added 1/2 oz to a gallon of water in a pump sprayer with 1.5 tsp of Southern AG non ionic surfactant to make it stick to the leaves better. Walked around and spot sprayed all the creeping Charlie and a few clovers on the 11th and let it do it’s thing. Just went out today 4 days later and it’s already pretty much decimated all the ivy I sprayed. Very impressed so far even if I have to do another round in two weeks on the ones I missed.

Suppose you could keep bombing the weedy area with herbicide while fertilizing the good stuff you have. Should set you up to overseed in mid late august. I’m glad I got a pretty decent lawn when we moved in here.

started a seed project at my dads yesterday. He’s had these areas under spruce trees that were trimmed up a couple years ago that he just weeds and has left bare. It’s only 400sq feet so some Scott’s Sun and Shade seed, starter fertilizer and peat moss was less than $40. It’s not the ideal time to seed but they’re on a well so keeping it watered won’t be a problem. Heading over there later to spray it down with some NXT root growth stimulant to give it an extra boost.

I let the yard at the Elgin house go this weekend. I want to let it grow another week. It is starting to do it's annual seeding (where the ends of the blade have seeds on them).

However, at the other house it looked like I never mowed it. Tractor had to work to get through it, and I actually had to go over it a second time (cross-cutting), to get up the excess mulch I put down on the first pass. This lawn is looking phenomenal. About the only thing I don't like about it is that it's starting to lose it's vivid green due to lack of rain.

Really. Why’d you go from a 30” time master to a 21” Honda? I hear the time master isn’t great at mulching. I want one just for the fat stripes but my 1/4 acre lot doesn’t justify it.

Mainly because of the mulching. The dual blade system on the Honda’s really mulch the grass much better than the Toro. I will miss the time saved by the Toro but in the long run the lawn will look better with the Honda. Plus the Honda will last 20 years.
