i know on the 3800 series II's (n/a series 2s like in ze fbodies), a simple IAT based 'nitrous tune' can get you damn near great results with a dry kit provided you have your fuel delivery figured out.

Im 350 in with headers, 3.4 modular pulley, intake. With tires and a 100shot and some good tuning I don't see why not.

$45 used LS6 springs
free home ported heads
$150 42# injectors
$200 headers (fukkkkk forgot about headers. I lose)
$80 pulleys (could do significantly cheaper)
E85
tuning factored in too... definitely won't make it

thats a no weight reduction build though. and stock blower and TB.

Ive seen some people do hilarious things with nitrous at the track. Some asshole in a auto 350z just literally bought some hose attached it to a nitrous bottle and intake tubing and would crack the bottle open to beat some guy in a charger srt8. Haha
