Just did a quick single lap around Mallard Lake in Bloomingdale.

Fish Fish, I had thought about taking the west exit to the bridge over County Farm to Hawk Hollow by you, but the wind was cutting through my hat and jacket.

I didnā€™t even want to go outside to fill up the bird feeders, let alone run 11 miles. Hats off to you sir.

Depending on the wind I might go back over to McKee tomorrow for a few laps since itā€™s predicted to be 45Āŗ. The 20-25mph gusting to 40 is a bit of a deterrent.

So what are you hitting heart rate at the top end?
So if you mean what was my max heart rate today. That was around 160-161. But keep in mind the heart rate shown is off my watch not a chest strap which is way more accurate. I have noticed when super cold like this heartrate data sometimes becomes inaccurate(high) then levels back down. This pace today was moderate for me but the conditions made it tougher. But heart rate is impacted by so many things like temperature/wind/incline/pace/distance/etc. If I was doing a 5k race my average heart rate would be in mid 170s but running closer to 6:30-6:50 pace.

Running in this cold of weather will definitely increase heart rate compared to say 40 degree day. Just like running in 90 degree and high humidity will. Glad to hear your getting out there!!

Itā€™s a bit of an exaggeration. At 90Ā° the relative humidity doesnā€™t get much over 60% here. Even when itā€™s raining out itā€™s still not at 100%.

But yeah, Iā€™d much rather be doing my cardio in that heat, granted Iā€™m on the bicycle (no electric assist) so the 12-14mph breeze hitting me does help.

But Iā€™ll put on a regular t-shirt and throw my 2.5L hydration pack on (plus two 24oz bottles) and go.

I did that when I rode from Morris to Marseilles and back. Ambient temp was 85-90Ā° in the shade, enough humidity you could hardly get a deep breath. Other than crappy trail conditions it was a fun ride.

Definitely referring to extreme days kind of like the -10 days around here. Definitely had some very hot days last summer with upper 80s and similar humidity. I am also more referring to more of anaerobic high intensity workout. Iā€™ll take cold any day for those. If Iā€™m doing low/medium average heart rate 120-140 then sure donā€™t mind it warmer. I knocked out a quick 6 today did not enjoy the headwind miles ?

Oh yeah, 10000000000% with ya on the winds. I try my hardest to go into the wind first, but have had it change direction on me 20-30 miles into the ride. A couple of times I actually had to walk the bike for a bit I was so worn out.

Bro we talking about working out dag. Not strolling on that electric bike :ROFLMAO: . No way i would choose 95 and 100% doing a hard cardio work out. That is absolute torture.
The electric bike is purely a commuter and temps on that don't matter since I dress very warm even in the summer. I have a 29'er that I use for my workouts and I need it HOT to enjoy it without a hoodie on. 75 degrees is too cold for bicycling!

I can make it down to 70Ā° if I layer up, lol. Like cold weather gear under sweat pants.
