As far as Ive read GM developed a 4.4 DOHC twin turbo V8 then basically threw it away or shelfed it.

It hasnt made its way to any vehicles yet.

Yes, that's the Blackwing V8 Mook Mook was referring to and it was in the CT6-V.

This was this past July at Dekalb Chevy/Cadillac;

Because Cadillac is supposed to be the flagahip of GM and they took the easy way out.

No DOHC TT V8
No DCT

But its got more HP than the new M5?

ROFL whoopdie do!

Psst. Zee Germans are still laughing at Cadillac.
Who cares if it’s TT or not if it’s making the power? The M5 doesn’t have DCT or manual btw. I’d take this over an M5 most likely if it was a car I’m going to dd.

I don't understand why valvetrain actuation is such a key element.

A pushrod design is compact and yet still effective. The aftermarket for GM's small block is indefinite. The engine is fairly easy to work on because of it's compact design (compared to a DOHC setup).
