i NEVER post pictures let alone take pictures of myself but I've been working out with a buddy of mine who is a workout FREAK. I've been working out on and off for many years but this picture is a solid 6 weeks of busting my arse and eating like an animal. Here's to the next 6 weeks. I'm a small guy 5'4 and currently sitting around mid 150lbs

Any pics prior to the 6 weeks? Nice work BTW, keep it up

weighed myself today at the muay thai gym, down 5 lbs after 23 days of trying to track my food. no strength change/possibly stronger. given i only started really using weights in may, and have plenty of chubs, i'm thinking i'm for now in a sweet spot where i can maintain/gain strength while still being in a calorie deficit. i aim for an average day being 2400 calories, but survey says i'm more like 2600.

per my fitbit, sunday when my main activity is just cleaning cat boxes and sweeping at the animal shelter, it thinks i use 2800 cals. on workout days despite being in the gym 90+ min it's like 2800 also, unless i do some heavy bag work before i leave, even if it is only 15 minutes. muay thai days it thinks i use 3300 to 3500.

surprised my resting heart rate hasn't changed since i got it. recently started wearing it again, but it says my resting rate is 56 bpm. per an older thread https://www.thechicagogarage.com/threads/any-of-yall-fitbit-fitbit-review.169717/ it seems like it got there as of aug 2019 too. don't recall when i got my fitbit but am going to assume the decline in that thread is from when i was doing nothing/just walking then after i started going to HIIT classes. i thought i might be lower now but guess 56 is my norm. i don't really do any direct/purely cardio work so i guess no reason to expect it might have moved a ton anyway, plus this still seems normal/good.

Yall are awesome. Excellent work. I really need to get back after it. Ever since Covid sent me (most of us) to the home office, my gym efforts have completely gone flat. Even had to retire my home gym while the fam was all here - but finally got that back together and now need to get back to getting up early and using it.

WHY IS IT SO HARD TO START?

Hardest part is getting to the gym, in your case getting to your home gym.
I was the same way when the gyms were closed. I have a very nice set up in my basement with over 400lbs in plates.
I very rarely used it when the gyms were closed, so I totally get it.

set some time on your calendar and just make yourself do it, no problem to keep going once you establish the routine.

i turn 42 later this month, i just regret not doing fuck all until 40, was less than 2 years ago when i just started going to HIIT gym and trying anything. only really just started the resistance training at 41 last may. newbie gainz at old as fuck.

I really need to get my ass into the gym, see if I can't workout my back/shoulder issue. I've been delaying a return to the gym to appease my mom, who is in an elevated risk category for covid, since I'm frequently visiting her.

Just needs her second shot and I'll try to get off my ass and start going.

With wrist straps or without?
With out. I did 455, failed at 475. Took off my belt and added wrist straps and couldn't move 475 most likely because I was gassed.

I didn't do a squat until I was in my 30's. I wish I started sooner. In my 20's I was all about bench and arms.

Pretty impressive. My DL PB was 495 with wrist straps, I could hit 425 without straps. I very rarely DL now a days, dont think the risk is worth the reward. I watch the younger dudes DL and slam the fucking bar/weights on the floor like they are impressing people lol.

I used to squat super heavy, 405 and up about 3yrs ago. I started having issues with almost fainting. Didnt matter if I did 95lbs or over 400lbs.
Went to my Dr, I think I had every heart test known to man over a 3-4 month period and everything was normal. Only thing he could come up with. Some peoples bodies just cant take it, he told me to stop squatting, so I did lol. I found it hard to believe that I was able to squat for almost 3yrs prior to that with no issues. I've wanted to start again, but dont feel like passing out while squatting. Can get seriously hurt that way.
At the time, I was floating between 235lbs-250lbs.

Let me know your thoughts, It didnt really do shit for me.

i wonder if i'm even aware or experienced enough to consciously recognize and notice the benefits. i'm just going off the science here apparently being pretty sound that it is apparently one of the most provably beneficial supplements.

One walk down today.
One walk to go!

Three mile hike around the lake yesterday was kick ass. I was expecting "the good pain" today ( nope)
