Got up early and made the 3 hour trip to Summit and picked up the driveshaft. Good thing I also have a station wagon.

(Don't mind the mess as I use this thing as intended.)

Got the old shaft out and got the new one in pretty quickly. Drove the car about 20 miles and so far so good. It does vibrate more but it's so much more direct under acceleration and gear changes.

Is grinding down one of the rear seat belt bolts still a thing to make these work w/out rubbing?

Yeah, I knocked them down with the death wheel, as well as the inner right muffler hanger. It also gets very close to the muffler heat shield, I hammered it some to move it out of the way, although I don't know if that makes a difference.

So you "got the shaft"? I just had to say that...

Your issue may still be that you're using the OEM companion flange setup. That center carrier bearing, along with the guibo's absorbed a lot of the balance/vibration.

Generally if it's 3.5" or more, yes. I had to on mine.

Well I think the driveshaft is good. Between fall color tour and Holden onto the dragon I've put about 2,200 miles on the car in 3 weeks. Car has been working great just in time for it to go into hibernation in a couple weeks. It went past 100k this week too.

And some pictures from the Dragon, Cherohala skyway and foothills parkway.

There was a massive Porsche rally going on while we were there, they had 600 cars and they kind of trolled us but it sounded so good.

That was on the way down. When I got home it was at 101 and some change.

I stopped at a cars and coffee in Knoxville on the way home and a guy asked if I'd trade him for his stock hood.

Went out last weekend to a cars and coffee, then I went and drove the car and driver 10 best test loop among some other country roads, and put it away for the winter.

Not many plans for it over the winter except for maybe trying to find a good set of wheels for it.

I'm still over a month from getting this thing out but the first of many parts has arrived.

I got a couple boxes today, I'd say this is 85% of what I'm replacing. Still need to get control arms, strut mounts and a diff mount bushing.

All the parts I need are here so I'm going to start working on this soon. Also ordered some wheels, was thinking about gold but I decided on these instead. Titanium black pearl.

I went with ET45 offset, seems that it's what everyone runs to be able to clear the brembos. Should fit without having to do much else.

That number sounds familiar. I think I went 45 up front and 50 out back.mije were staggered though

Wheels came, these look awesome in person.

And on the subject of round things, I pulled the wheel off and stripped all the spokes and leather off. The leather was getting holes in it and the seams were splitting.

Ordered some black spoke covers and then ordered a leather cover with blue stitching that I'm going to attempt to sew on myself.

Those wheels are going to look fantastic. Interesting to see how the steering wheel comes out too!

Steering wheel is done. Might go slap it on and start working on it this weekend if the weather cooperates.
