I don't know now a days pretty much every runabout runs damn near 60, I've got walked by fucking crown lines while I was running upper 50's, but you can buy pretty cheap smaller boats that run that and look cool while sounding good for in the 5k range quite often, I'd just rather be in a boat myself I guess

that's what i was saying though, for every 10 4-8k used pwc out there, there's one fiberglass boat that runs 60 and costs the same. the cheap entry price, ease of use i think is what people find attractive about them.

maybe another PWC appeal portion is the physical size of them- they are small so they fit in garages easily and other places?

ding. i would LOVE a boat, and was looking very seriously a couple years ago. but i dont have the space, and don't feel like paying $100+ a month to have it stored somewhere. my pwc fits anywhere though.
when i buy a house it will have room for a boat though. 20' bowrider with a small block v8 will do nicely i think :riski:

I've never been up there, I've taken small boats out in bad stuff before though it's not like your going to die (if you know how to run a boat) it would just not be optimal, we took a 16 foot wellcraft bow rider down to lake of the ozarks once and ran it all over the lake it was pretty sketchy lol, and a 17 Larsen and a 19 searay almost every time I went down there it was in a sub 20 foot boat, my dad used to take his boats out on Lake Michigan all the time I remember crossing the southern tip of the lake on the 17 Larsen, sometimes it's not comfortable and a wave runner may be a better choice in that instance but it's doable and you can take more people and stuff with while doing it jamming to your tunes and eating your sandwiches lol

Is there a reason you guys would rather take out a wave runner than a small boat? Just wondering I've ridden wave runners a hand full of times and aside from jumping wakes they do nothing for me

For me....It's easier. I can be on the water in minutes as I just drop the shore station and go.

I see PWC's as the watersport cousin of motorcycles. They are cheap, go fast and you get the experience of wind and water in your face. Plus they are more maneuverable than boats, so you can take turns fast or jump wakes. Most of the forced induction performance PWC's will do high 60's on a GPS, so there's not many boats that do that for cheap.
