So I did something I never thought I would. I bought a turbo system for the T/A. I was actually looking to sell the car for Braap but a used complete turbo system kind of fell in lap so I figured why not.
The car was set up for nitrous last season and due to the shortage it never made a full timed pass which sucks. I was looking to see how far I could push a stock bottom end LS1. My plans change with the wind so the car still has a stock 4L60 and 10 bolt with a 3.73. I was planning to build the 4L60 to a Lvl 6 at FTI but that has changed.
Anyways here's the car from last season.
Now on to the build. I bought a turbo system that comes with a T4 76mm turbonetics turbo. I was originally going to just slap it on the LS1 and swap the cam but I have decided to swap over to a SBE 5.3. I have to decide between an iron or aluminum block. The goal is still the same, to push an SBE engine as far as I can, so that has me leaning towards an iron due to cost. I'm targeting high 600/ low 700 wheel. It will be running E-85, tuned by Speed Inc. and I will also be putting in a TH400 with a brake. Eventually it will get an 8.8 or 9" with a 3.20ish gear. The suspension is about 80% done already so I will be finishing that off. My goal is to have the car up and running by the end of the season, the old intake and nitrous stuff is already gone so I have decent jump. Pictures of the turbo kit and progress to follow.
