🔧 BUILD My junker Buick revival....

General Information

Doubt anybody cares but figured I had my cucv build here so why not. This is my first car when I was 16, it's a 1970 Buick gran sport. It was slightly less junk then but not by much. It got parked after the trans gave way as well as the brakes. It sat for many years outside and then a few years in a garage. I was finally able to go and get it last week.

The uncovering aka barn find status.

Emersonhart13 and I were able to get it on to the trailer (my brother helped)

Getting it off the trailer turned into a hell of a thing as well. A neighbor walking by was kind enough to help out.

Got her over to her spot so the wife can potentially park in the garage again

Got to work today on it. Checked the oil and threw a battery in it. Gave it a bit of spray and she fired right up. Steady oil pressure and a bit of an exhaust leak. Seemed to idle oh so nice for sitting for a good 8 years. RAN WHEN PARKED

Yep, leaking.

Wasn't done for the day. Decided that since the engine seemed all good for now, might as well get going on the trans.

Guess I'll update this for some reason.

Picked up a 455 today.

Tried out my bubba rope gator jaw. Worked great. (It's attaching the sling to the hoist)

Also got my speedhut tach mounted in the blank plate in my dash. It's like it was made for it. I'll get around to getting it in the dash some day.

Don't know yet. It's a low compression engine (8.5:1) from 73. The compression drop compared to a 70- is mainly in the piston dish vs flat top.

It's got some oiling upgrades compared to the 70 and older blocks.

I'm unsure if I want to strip it down, do the rest of the oiling mods, get it cleaned up/refreshed and drop some nice pistons in it or if I want to throw a gasket set at it, cam/timing chain (and some bits from my current engine) and install it.

I'm excited about the tach. Plan on getting some more gauges made the next time the have a sale.

Speedhut stuff is all made to order in Utah and rivals autometer's prices. Did I mention they're custom?

Also have a small shift light I'll be installing in my drivers vent

Got my radiator kind of in. Decided I needed to make a bracket for the passenger top side. The tanks are way wider on this than stock so it sits too far to the drivers side. Don't have a pic of it all done.

Decided to ditch the Taurus fan idea since the shroud was so small and I'd have to come up with something for that. Instead I ordered a windstar fan off Amazon. Here's a pic I found of it on the rad I have
fafa97016c81bd134c891bda4280cebf.jpg

Went to the junk yard to grab some plugs for the fan (and to pick up another one for fun) and ended up seeing a firebird with no wheels on it so said to hell with it and bought all 4 brake calipers and brackets for $50. Figured wouldn't hurt to have extras of the rears. Need to get some hubs and have them modified, order up some f body rotors and I've already ordered the brackets.

God dammit.
I still need to find more oe 12mm bolt ls1 caliper brackets for the 442. Our zzp brackets won't work for the dual 11" &12" rotor position. ... since they are drilled and tapped to 14mm...

Nice find asshole
I might start just hoarding these if I find them. I regret not grabbing the rear backing plates but didn't feel like laying in a puddle of mud trying to get the diff pin out to pull the axles
