🔧 BUILD My junker Buick revival....

General Information

Doubt anybody cares but figured I had my cucv build here so why not. This is my first car when I was 16, it's a 1970 Buick gran sport. It was slightly less junk then but not by much. It got parked after the trans gave way as well as the brakes. It sat for many years outside and then a few years in a garage. I was finally able to go and get it last week.

The uncovering aka barn find status.

Emersonhart13 and I were able to get it on to the trailer (my brother helped)

Getting it off the trailer turned into a hell of a thing as well. A neighbor walking by was kind enough to help out.

Got her over to her spot so the wife can potentially park in the garage again

Got to work today on it. Checked the oil and threw a battery in it. Gave it a bit of spray and she fired right up. Steady oil pressure and a bit of an exhaust leak. Seemed to idle oh so nice for sitting for a good 8 years. RAN WHEN PARKED

Yep, leaking.

Wasn't done for the day. Decided that since the engine seemed all good for now, might as well get going on the trans.

Got my dash lights and under dash wiring all diagnosed and cleaned up.

I've never had gauge lights and the reason was is that there were two wires in the fuel/dummy light gauge were swapped in the plug which was making the ground hot and blowing the fuse. Took forever to find this shit out

Going to buy some led bulbs since they're so dim compared to the tach now.

Shift light is decent at the lowest setting and it can be turned off with the push of a button

I dislike electrical work. So tedious and the payoff is mediocre. The most annoying part is that the harness has a ton of "extra" plugs that I had to deal with figuring out if they were just unhooked and I needed them or if they were indeed extra for options my car didn't have.

Bought repo hubs a few weeks ago and cut them down to fit into the rotors.

Also picked up a spare since the original won't fit over my brakes. I might look into a taller tire.

Also swapped some led bulbs into my factory gauges. They seem a touch blue but I can't find anything more pure white. For $8 not super worried.
