I wouldn't do what that video shows. I'd follow the first few minutes of the video and install downloader, and then install Kodi. After that, I'd only add the addons you want through repositories.

Right now covenant and smoothstreams are the only two I use.

I personally don't and have had no issues. I do have a VPN, but only use it when I need to download a torrent. I never use my VPN while using Kodi.

Some people do though...personal choice really.

Smooth streams is worth every penny imo. Watched GoT in hd flawlessly. Ppvs, nfl and so many other reasons. Sure you can do this elsewhere but with no where near the ease or I'm most cases stream quality. They had some hiccups in service a month ago or so when they switched channel 1-60 to full hd all the time but last few weeks have been great again.
