Project # 2 under way. Picked up some 1.5” / 14 gauge square tubing and some 3/4” birch plywood. Making the kids some desks for their rooms because of this eLearning stuff.

Welding table is kick ass by the way, love this shit!

Desks are close to complete, finished up fabbing the frames and getting them painted.

The tops I am doing out of Birchwood finish plywood and painting white. I rounded out the corners, routed the edges on both sides, and set the wood anchors for attaching to the frame. My girls and I will be painting the tops together this weekend. It is cute, they are totally geeked out about having desks ?

Also with the left over material from my welding table I am building a new floor bench press rack to replace my wood one.

Thanks Andy, I am having a blast! Next project is starting on the car which might be a few weeks. Need to source the tubing I will be using which I think means I'll be taking a trip out to Indy.

Picked up 60’ of Docol R8 and a small sheet of 11 Ga. Strenx sheet today in Indy. Got my ER80SD2 welding wire yesterday, let fab work begin! Going to play with the material a little bit first to figure out heat/wire speed settings. Will be pulling the trigger on a tube bender soon.

Do you have a chop saw yet? If not you can use a miter saw with a chop saw blade. Makes fabbing so much easier.

I'm not greasy by any means but I did fire up my tig and started relearning how to weld.
Not bad for 25 years of barely touching a welder and never a tig.

My welds are ugly, but don’t leak. I stopped caring what my welds look like years ago

I will gladly make you guys those once I get my bender. You would just need to pay for cost of material.

Yup I already have a cold cut saw. Not interested in an abrasive blade on a miter box.
