THE CHICAGO 1/2 MILE SHOOTOUT WILL TAKE PLACE AS PLANNED ON JUNE 1ST AND 2ND, 2013.
Instead of waiting until 3PM we figured it's best to go ahead and make the decision now so those traveling from great distances can go ahead and resume their plans.
According to the most recent forecast by Tom Skiing (a well-known local Chicago Meteorologist for 30 years) things appear to be looking better on Saturday and Sunday will be clear and cool.
Forecast - Chicago Weather Center
Hundreds of people have made plans to attend this event and we feel that cancelling would be worse then trying to fight through a few passing showers. We have already received numerous emails that most people could not attend the event next weekend if it were rescheduled. Most people have already purchased plane tickets, shipped cars, etc....and we don't want to reverse those plans.
If we reschedule we could very easily be facing worse weather next weekend, and we can't keep closing the airport down every weekend in hopes of perfect weather. Essentially chasing our own tail.
The event will go on (Rain or Shine) and operate based on our assessment of the safety of the track surface, of course that will not be known until Saturday morning.
So we will see everyone bright and early on Saturday and Sunday morning.
See everyone very soon!
Let's GO FAST!!
