Agreed there unless they’re trying to come up with a package OE’s can buy and install? But how is it “better and cheaper” I mean if you buy a car and then send it out to get an engine installed it can’t possibly be cheaper.
Volt has 9 gallon tank. Motor is just under a hundred HP. When running on just the motor it is slower than without so I am guessing they hoping you never run on just that little generator.
Also, how did you get the Fuelly stats in your sig? Do they update as your Fuelly logs change when added to?
150 HP!! 294lb's of Torque!!
The 2019 Volt does not need the motor to run to add horsepower. It just adds range to the battery.
Currently at 612MPG on the first tank of gas!!
The owners manual says somewhere that the car is faster 0-60 in range extend mode. Will test with dragy and my ELR150 HP!! 294lb's of Torque!!

Honestly I think we’re past that. The EREV (extended range electric vehicle) should be the most popular thing on earth but besides the volt and some select other plug in hybrids it never really caught on. Cost + complexity just isn’t worth it. After all, one huge advantage to electric cars is the reduction in moving parts and failure points. Why even bother lugging around an ICE, emissions system, fuel system, etc... when you could instead focus on shortening charging times and increasing energy density in batteries?Agreed there unless they’re trying to come up with a package OE’s can buy and install?
you don’t think it would be cool to just plop this in on long trips and avoid any bullshit charging stations?
good god these fanbois butts are hurt.
Tesla Model 3 gets bizarre battery pack "downgrade" and hybrid engine conversion by engineering firm
An Austrian engineering firm claims they can make the widely popular Tesla Model 3 cheaper with twice the range but at half the cost Obrist Powertrain’s Tesla Model 3 Plug-in Hybrid conversion called the “Obrist Mark II” will support a range of 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) through a battery pack...www.teslarati.com

what a bunch of chuckleheads.
No electricity at your house? Call comEd manOr increasing the electric network... That is the achille's heal right now, no matter how much range you can build. The world is an imperfect place. So not having an charging station on every corner...
I mean, I posted the original article because I knew the fanboi's would actually lose their shit
No doubt. My brother goes to Meijer now because they have a supercharger.
