There are a few outsider phones (Not running IOS or Android) but all seem to hit a huge wall and then the project stops or comes to a slow crawl.

Plasma, PureOS/Librem, ubuntu touch, lineageOS, graphene.....but all still in the deep Beta stages even after years and years of development. They just dont have the money and experience behind them and with IOS/Android being pretty good, most people dont even bother to look elsewhere unless you are very privacy centric. Then you find out they barely work, so back to IOS/Android.

They work great IF you dont need SMS/MMS or Cell Provided calling. Apps that use just Data or data for messaging, are fine. But most in the US are still on SMS/MMS.

I REALLY want hard switches to become more common like in a few rare models. A hard switch for the MIC, GPS, Camera and radios would be awesome.

This shows how bad mine is.... just having the Battery settings open. Look at the time stamps and percentage.

Last time I proved this to Apple I used the stopwatch to count the seconds between the battery % drop. Yeah, the clock was too slow and had to use something that illustrated seconds. It was averaging 1% drop every 6-7 seconds.

Did that in the store while they watched.

Same, was on Beta for a good month, didn't really have any battery related issues. Had issues with the mail.app and messages.app. Such as message from someone that wasn't already listed in my message history wouldn't show up in the list. Could only access the new message via the notification, or via Messages on my Macbook.

Omg. Seems like something is really wrong with your phone

Standard apple repair protocol applies: do all the obvious stuff (which you've already done), then when none of it works do a factory reset and watch it magically start working as it should lol
Not doing another factory reset. Not about to sit through that ordeal. I have the phone backed up locally, so don't have to rely on pulling from iCloud, but all the rest of the shit you have to do... no way, not again.

I'd be giving the phone back and getting a Pixel or something. That's wild.

What Apple should have done, and I wouldn’t fault them for it, was to restrict 14 to newer devices. Like they did with iOS 13. If you had a regular 6 it wouldn’t go past 12.4. But the 6s was eligible for upgrade.
but then how else would they be able to phase them out with bad software updates??????
