hey so I know theres some hate on the GTO but with just headers and exhaust and tune on stock tires in an auto i ran a 12.5... and averaged 27mpg.... just saying...

Regardless, A 2011 V6 stang could probably spank half the 2v, even the 3v v8 stangs. I'm honestly super impressed. hopefully in 5 years I could get one cheap for a daily car.

So your GTO ran half a second faster with 2.3 liters more displacement and 2 more cylinders with mods than a bottom of the line mustang with very little into it... Wouldn't be proud of that my man... Nor do I believe for one second that you "Average" 27mpg on anything except the highway assuming you are a 6 speed.

I average 28. I think highway rating is 26 for my car. I drive on the highway 20 miles out of my 70 mile commute a day....I also don't go slow on the highway.

Real world and EPA standards are vastly different.

16/21 is the rating for an Auto GTO,

The MANUALS are rated at 16/25, I could easily except someone to see 27 out of a 6 speed GTO on the highway, but not in mixed driving.

Consumer Guide got an average of 15.7mpg out of an auto GTO... I just don't see an 11mpg difference being possible out of an auto LS1 or LS2...:ugh:

Regardless, he posted his time/mpg to compare it to a V-6 mustang, toting that he can run faster and get similar MPG, I'm basically calling his bluff on getting similar MPG.

It's a 6mpg difference.

Again, No.

He is saying he is averaging 27. Not his highway mpg.

Consumer guide AVERAGED 15.7 in an auto LS1 car

the AVERAGE EPA mpg would be 18.5, so it would be a 8.5mpg difference from t he EPA average and 11mpg difference from a magazine's observed average, if you want to get really technical, which is still huge.

You averaging 28 in a 4 cylinder car that is rated at 26 highway is very different from a big V-8.

I went ahead and did some digging, and your car is rated:

Turbocharged dohc H4 2.0 / 122 227 / 217 5-speed manual: 20/27

So the EPA average would be 23.5 mixed 50/50. So you are squeaking out 4.5mpg better with a 4 cylinder (19% improvement). He is claiming 8.5mpg better in a V-8 (46% improvement)
