You guys got it all wrong. I DON'T CARE WHO WINS A RACE. That was not the point.

Alright, I admit I went off on a tangent too. It's just that the argument of HP/L to me is more for bragging rights just like peak HP numbers. What really matters is ET and trap and even LBS/HP. Those paint a better picture of what the car is capable of. With that said the 5.0 is impressive for what it's doing.

I.NEED.SUMMER.

I'm in such bad withdrawl that I took my v6 mustang rental car out in a vagas industrial area to roast the tires. I almost would have taken a race with a riced out Passatt vr6 if it weren't for it turning off to a side road. This has to be the equivalent of snorting backing soda off of a dead hooker while in desperate need of a fix :(

Stock motor, tune (not a dyno tune), T56, 3.73 gears (needs 4.10s as it just shifts into 4th right before the traps), long tube headers and 3" exhaust. 11.14 @ 124 so far.

I would slap a Vortech on this and have a nice driver.
The top 3 bolt-on LS3 Vettes have gone 10's. That's with out the benefit of a SRA set up for drag racing and I'd be willing to bet a C6 weighs more than that fox body.

fucking this to a T. HP/L means shit. if HP/L meant everything then 800whp supras would decimate all but instead run 12's. It's just what people use to try and justify why they aren't making X. lbs/Hp does mean a bit more, but even then it's about what the entire powerband is doing, not just the peak number.

I think you guys are missing the whole point of the hp versus displacement. A 2.5L engine will most likely have a peak HP rpm that is double of that 5.0L making the same peak HP. The smaller motor will have a much lower torque production under the peak. It will also have a very small rpm band compared to the larger motor. Sure top end package flow characteristics, engine efficiency and other things come into play. But in general the larger displacement motor has an advantage in power production.

Just a thought i'll throw in here....

That motor more than likely does not have one OE production part in it. Not exactly a fair comparison. haha

I posted that car because someone posted about a coyote in a foxbody. Not really because of the times it ran. It ran good the first time out and with changes will run well into the tens. But it is on the lighter side for sure.

NMRA has a new class for the Coyote motor. Basically you have to use a sealed motor and PCM from Ford Racing. Then minimum weights and spec tires. Any Ford vehicle 1953 and newer I believe. I think you will see some amazing things come out of this class. We are talking the 412 hp rated motor that you can not tune the PCM. I am excited to see what guys can do in this class.

I agree that car was not comparable. However I think this one is.

402 LS2, ported LS6's, Hydraulic roller, 3150lbs w/driver. Just goes to show theres more than one way to get done and the Coyote has come a long way in a short time.

^ not exactly "stock" anymore either. haha 402", Ported LS6 heads and so on. But ya, both platforms can make good power. And they Coyote is new and should benefit as time goes on.

Just sharing this as I thought it was interesting. I was just reading a magazine here at lunch. Westech performance did a dyno & header install on a Coyote crate motor with the control pack. The control back is the throttle body, stock mustang air box & headers, O2 sensors and PCM. On the engine dyno the new motor made 448hp / 405 ft/lbs. Underrated at 412 hp? haha Maybe. They swapped long tube headers and made 462hp and picked up as much as 48 ft/lbs down low.

I was comparing it to the JPC car not the one in the Fox.
