Since it's fitness oriented and I didn't want to start a thread on it....

Passed my Police Officer Wellness Certification today (NIPSTA). It was a little challenge due to the fact that I'm fighting off a shitty cold. The indoor stuff was fine (benching, sit ups etc...), but the run was a bitch, coughed up a lot of gross stuff. I measured it (had a reader) and it was 1.8 miles not 1.5 like they said. BASTARDS! haha

Oh well, I'm certified tho, time to apply to several departments now.

I've been a serious slacker recenty, working out maybe 2 days a week lol. My diet has been garbage too.

Lifted last night and tweaked my back doing deadlifts on a bitch weight. Its the first time Ive ever injured myself doing deadlifts. Usually I am suuuuuper strict with my form, because injuring your back IS very easy to do. I guess being a little lax while using a lower weight is what did it. Ran for the first period and intermission of the Blackhawks game too, which probably irritated it more.

I finally got around to putting up the 80lbs dumbells today - as I didn't have the P90x videos on hand to follow. So I just did a few random workouts after the ab ripper workout (which I basically have memorized).

3 sets of 8 w/80# feels good.

hardest part was getting them in place to bench and putting them down... actually doing the bench wasn't bad at all... I wish they had heavier weights at the gym so I could move up a set!

Got a good arm workout in today. I usually have a hard time hitting my triceps enough, since I don't have a ton of equipment and am limited to free weights. Weighted dips 3x10x25#plate in a backpack, skull crushers 3x10x80#, tricep kick backs 2x10x45 2x10x40, chin ups 3x10, hammer curls 3x10x45#, preacher curls 3x10x90#, and some 3x3x10# on a forearm roller thingy

Im coming down with a bit of a cold this week, hoping it's not going to be anything serious. Being sick absolutely drains the hell out of my energy level.

I'm having a problem with my hand right now, and couldn't lift worth a damn today. Deadlifts were nearly impossible.I'm having a tingling sensation and have lost almost all grip strength in my pinky and index finger on my left hand. Hoping I just pinched a nerve and it gets better on its own shortly. It could also be carpal tunnel, or a more severe nerve problem. I did have a pretty severe neck injury when I was 15. There is a possibility it could be a complication. Bruised my brain stem, and was paralyzed throughout most of my body for 2 months, couldn't walk stand or even feed myself. It also screwed up my equilibrium, causing me to be EXTREMELY dizzy all of the time, and would throw up regularly because of that. I have mostly recovered from it, with some pretty bad nerve damage remaining in my right leg. There is almost no sensation of temperature or pain in the leg at all. I can feel up to about a pinching sensation, then it goes numb.

If it doesn't clear up by this time next week, Im going to go have the doc check it out.
