I filed mine last Thursday, pending in my account already
He went to the same guy I went to. He actually referred me to him as he works with him in construction and the guy has his own business doing taxes and other stuff. I'm assuming my brother probably just didn't end up using the additional child tax credit. Has to be the only explanation. Not possible, anyone getting that credit wouldn't even be looking at till the 15th. He must have just had a good return. Unless he went to a place that gives him money and then they get your return.
25% is the flat tax rate for bonuses. Your employer did it right, some employers choose the aggregate method, that taxes closer to 40%. You get the difference back when you file, but its an interest free loan to the government.

Your bonus might be taxed at 25%, but if it puts you into a bracket that taxes higher than 25%, you'll owe the difference.
I usually switch to exempt before a heavy bonus. Works out great usually, at tax time we're usually just a few hundred up or down.
I like my money up front. No need to let the government make interest on it.
My brother claims several kids (he has 4) and claimed the additional child tax credit, and yet he received tax refund already. Would be nice to wake up and see a nice chunk of money.
