Just wrapped up The Irishman, which clocks in at 3.5 hours. Here is my quick review - Tremendous cast (so good to see Pesci acting again - it also had pretty much everyone you could want from the mob genre), fantastic acting...de-aging was wild and felt (mostly natural), but this movie was way too long - it dragged so much. Taken as a whole, I thought it was pretty boring and I'm shocked to say that. This is not something I'd rewatch like i do Casino, Goodfellas or Godfather (or Sopranos).

Its worth checking out just for the de-aging tech and just to say you saw it, but I was relieved to have it finish. Mileage will vary.

Done. First off lets just get it out of the way. Yes, it is definitely a long movie. But hell, Casino is damn near 3 hours. But this movie does move at a much slower pace than Casino. Honestly tho, for me, it didn't feel as long as it was, but you really can't just casually decide watch this movie, it's something you have to be ready commit to

With that said, I did really enjoy this movie, as a Scorsese fan, and a fan of everyone in this. Even tho Pesci was a lot more subdued in this movie, he still killed it and hasn't lost a beat playing this type of role. Everyone in this movie was great. The de-aging tech for their faces was surreal, and that nostalgia just comes flooding back, but then you have to watch them move and fight like old men still, and then you're taken out of it a bit, but it was still pretty cool. Everyone mostly did a good job of "acting" younger, but there are still moments that break the uncanny valley wide open. Overall, this movie doesnt top goodfellas or casino or anything like that, but I thought it was a good movie. Will watch again one day when I have another 3 and half hours to kill

Also want to add the setting, wardrobe design, music, is everything you'd expect from a Scorsese piece. The cars in this are fantastic as well. That Hudson that de-aged De Niro drives was freaking gorgeous.

Netflix loves casting Meth Damon in everything lately

That’s only character I had a hard time taking seriously because I couldn’t mentally disconnect him from his previous role in Breaking Bad. I was a little skeptical of Ray Romano when I first saw him in the previews but thought he did a good job.

So, my nephew started talking about this the other day.

He's 11.

Turns out over the holiday weekend, Netflix flubbed, and The Irishman is watchable under Kids accounts lol. Nice one Netflix.

I actually called and complained last Friday about it. I just checked today and I don't see it anymore, so I think they fixed it.
