For the CMC track rental, there was no gate attendant. The day before, I emailed a list of paid racers. The tech inspector had the list and checked off names as people brought their cars over for inspection.

The list of racers who fill out cards should tell you how many showed and who they are. Should prevent any sneakers.

my tiny melon will probably bounce around in there but i'd take it. the only helmet i might have is one of my dad's old motorcycle helmets and those wont be "up to code".

I’m pretty sure both of mine are one is an older one but it should be new enough, they don’t look at your helmet anyway

Normally tech is like do you have a helmet me- sure tech- ok good enough

I would lend you mind but you might fit in Kats better The pro is they are bluetooth connected so I can whisper sweet nothings in your ear while i munch on a GLD burger.

I would think ANYONE using a bike at the track day would want one whether its required or not. But yes, I would say if you're racing a bike, you should be smart about what you're wearing.

I can't see them letting you run down the track without a helmet. That's just a major liability and lawsuit waiting to happen. That's why I'm bringing my spare motorcycle helmet. So far, I'm planning on running the bike, and only the bike.

Well obviously a helmet is required...I've stated that for all racers

The only other thing I'll throw in is that left lane should always exit the track first.

If right lane gets down the track first, you don't want to cut across the track until you know that the car in the left lane is slowed down and under control. Stop and wait for the left car to exit to avoid getting t-boned.

My biggest fear. Happened to my buddy at Byron 10 years ago.

First time I ran a bike at a drag strip was at Byron. Talk about lax... riders were wearing gym shoes, jeans, jacket (wind breaker), helmet, and gloves. I was walking around in 90° heat with full leathers, cause I like my skin attached to me, and not in chunks down the track

So for those close to the Elgin / Barrington area....do you guys wanna meet over by Rookies at 59/72? Meet around 9ish and roll shortly after? Track opens at 10 and I feel like I should at least be there by 1030. Get organized. Walk the track, etc.

Im looking at 10 being the earliest I can leave, I’ll probably just have to meet everyone up there. If someone wants to meet up and travel together I live in Cary so I can meet anywhere near by or on the way.
