🔧 BUILD Taws697's 1963 Biscayne Build! the anti-swap. Engine updates on page 5

General Information

After reading the thread on user participation, I decided to start a build thread. I got the car back in 2018 but never made a thread because 1, it’s not a turbo LS or blown coyote and 2, because I move so slowly on it. I may fail miserably, but here we go.......

1963 Chevy Biscayne 2dr post. Laurel green with a fawn interior. Straight 6 with a 3 on the tree. 40,000 mile car completely untouched with plastic covers on the seats. This thing is bare bones. It has 1 option which is a push button radio, nothing else. No side mirrors, single speed wipers, no reverse lights, manual steering and brakes. The original owner down in Kentucky passed and his buddy sold it to me out of the estate. I got the original owners manual, accessory book, dealer ice scraper and even the statement of origin. These are pictures of when I picked it up.

That sounds good!!! When will it be street ready again?
Thanks! I’m hoping to drive it in a week or two. I need to put the inner valve springs in, get an alignment, set pinion angle, etc. I’m sure I’ll have to chase plenty of gremlins as well. Hopefully I can drive it a little and make a list of what needs to be addressed over the winter.

I’ve been trying to come up with an air cleaner setup for a little while. I knew that I wanted to run the dual snorkel lid that came on 1965 L79 350hp 327’s and 400hp 409’s. I always thought they looked neat for whatever reason. I was originally trying to find a black one, but the chrome ones were $100 cheaper. I ordered a chrome one and I kind of fell for the boomer bling. I had to experiment with a couple air filter heights to get the lid to clear the hood.

Once I had it installed, I thought it looked kind of odd being to only chrome under the hood. So I ordered the matching chrome L79 valve covers.
A domino effect I guess…….

I’ve also been trying to get seatbelts that match the interior color on this car. Finally after getting webbing samples from 3 different companies, I think I found a match. (Bottom right sample.)
