so i will be looking for another "fun" car this summer but unsure what i really want...i am looking to try to stay around the 5-6K (flexible) mark. the longer i wait the more i will have (cash)

id really prefer RWD or AWD. as much as i enjoyed my turbo gtp i just want to go a different route. miles dont matter as long as its "reliable" buying "used" you can never be sure. id like something that is not beat up (inside or out) but for the right price i dont care...lol

i was thinking:
LS1 camaro (trans am if i could find one)
WRX sti
80's Monte SS
Mustang
...something quick, nice aftermarket, ...FUN...

suggestions/opinions..?

I think any LS1 car or WRX will be a pile for that price range, but you might get lucky. Id say you can get a really decent old 5.0 for that money.

The monte for decent price and then drop a good motor in it. If you want to not do something too extreme to the car, then I vote LS1

X2, clean/solid fox body mustangs with a good slew of mods already installed go for that coin.

Something fun and quick? I'd say drop the 80's Monte SS like a boat anchor off the list. Unless you want to swap motors in to it.

I'd say 4th gen F-body. Even LT-1's.
I've seen 96-97 Camaro SS's sell for $6,000 with 90-100k miles on them.

Or WS6?

I voted either LS1 Camaro or a Mustang. Leaning more towards LS1 because the experience with my own car making great power with little mods and reliability has been great.

Wrx's suck ass and a $5k one will be a giant pile of shit.

I voted ls1 because even high mileage ones are awesome.

I agree with this. You can get a 5.0 for about $4k then slap a blower on it for $2k and have a great car

im thinking im going to save to around 10K. and as fun as a notch would be i would rather something newer. this car will be a DD for me and my wife hates old cars lol. the only reason the monte is on there because i have always wanted one and one day will. def. not stock under the hood.

could always get a notch/hatch mustang on the cheap and run some chevy power to the wheels...ls1 style :)

def. would be unique..i would love to do this type of swap.

I wouldn't exactly call that unique. LS powered fox bodies are becoming a dime a dozen.
