Couldnt get pihole to block YT adds before. Plus we usually just use either the Apple TV or Roku now.
YouTube ads are streamed through the same server/stream as the actual content. Very hard, if not almost impossible to block ads on youtube unless you have multiple steps of security, like Tinfoil Lord said.

The sub is wireless and the satellites connect to it. It is just a Vizio but it sounds good for the 150 I spent. I then ran the wires under the floor so the 5.1 is proper.

only thing I have been slacking on is mounting the center soundbar attached to the tv mount so it moves with it instead of sitting on the mantle behind it.

yeah that's how mine is just no satellites but has them speakers that fire at the ceiling to sound behind you ish.

it works well for what im doing

ive got in wall shit im going to put in my basement.

ad URL doesnt really get exposed til it hits device side in some cases
I have an extension for twitch and it will just black the screen out for ads until the actual content or clip starts playing. Think most CDN's got smart because it's way easier to block injected ads from a known source than to block the ad getting streamed with the content directly from the same delivery server.

I need to get edumacated on AV stuff sooner rather than later. Haz a 9 year old TV and soundbar and they're both junk that barely work, and that's the only TV in the house lol.

I'm having these guys come to the house after it's framed, before electrical walk through, so that nothing gets missed. That is, until tinfoilhat tells me why they suck then offers some overly complicated description of what I should do

Run an ethernet drop to every room along the wall you think will have a TV/device mounted/next to it.

Run it all to a centralized location so you can put your modem, a switch, and whatever other network gear you may want (Plex or any other home-streaming software for example).

im not great at this shit like Lord Tin Foilhat Lord Tin Foilhat or EmersonHart13 EmersonHart13 but with knowing what little i do, id want ethernet everywhere so you can have your tv's directly wired. routers wherevver you want... then more ethernet cables everywhere so you can have a security system for your ski hill ran off of them

Yeah I did such a shit job deciding on ethernet locations in the current house. There are two connections, both on the wrong fucking wall, and the only one in use is in christian's room so the TV uses wifi from pretty far away.

22 year old conrad was not a smart man

and then run 2x that everywhere.

cat6 and fiber. at least 2 cat6 per room

also plan on camera placements and drop cat6 into the soffit where you want them... save yourself a fucking huge headache. Just assume 1-2 cat6 at each corner of the roof of the house. wire is cheap as fuck.

330ft max run length for cat6.

if you want to go wired alarm system or add in electric access control (badge readers for home), have them run whats called composite access cable... basically one big cable that has a ton of tiny ones. 1 for each door.

wireless sensors are good enough for windows/door sensors and glass break sensors. They just suck for electric locks because then you deal with batteries.
