the less wifi devices the BETTER.

if you are going home automation, I highly recommend spending the extra coin for Zwave over wifi/bluetooth. WAYYYY less things use the frequency range and no direct internet connection so they cant be hacked remotely like WIFI/BLE unless onsite

Zwave light switches and outlets. They create their own 900mhz secured mesh.

cat6 and fiber. at least 2 cat6 per room

also plan on camera placements and drop cat6 into the soffit where you want them... save yourself a fucking huge headache. Just assume 1-2 cat6 at each corner of the roof of the house. wire is cheap as fuck.

330ft max run length for cat6.

if you want to go wired alarm system or add in electric access control (badge readers for home), have them run whats called composite access cable... basically one big cable that has a ton of tiny ones. 1 for each door.

wireless sensors are good enough for windows/door sensors and glass break sensors. They just suck for electric locks because then you deal with batteries.

I havent been the biggest fan of ubiquiti lately with all their BS data collection no opt-out firmware stuff....

I havent looked to see if they backed off on it though. They got a lot of backlash from the community.

ALL I am saying is run the fucking wire before the walls....it is a NIGHTMARE on finished houses unless you plan on doing more drywall work.

Run an extra if you can, if you can't or don't want to, RUN A PULL CABLE WITH IT!

Think outside the box on jack placements. How about a couple for smart appliances in the kitchen hidden in the cabinets? Smart furnace/ water heater? smart washer/dryer?

also run wires for smoke detectors.... wire them all together. rarely replace batteries.

in wall speakers? outside deck speakers? garage speakers?

just be creative.

I have an outlet in my linen closet for tooth brushes and shaver since the don't fit in vanity.

Kitchen outlets are key, you don't want so many that look stupid, Ive seen it, but you need ot put them where you will use them.

literally the one thing I get the most compliments on and it literally came with the faucet. Powers off of water pressure so there is no wires or batteries. It is always the women who compliment it too
