🔧 BUILD My MKIV Supra build-ish thread...big boy 3.4L motor time

General Information

Most of you that have access to FB have probably already seen this but I did part ways with my Turbo TA yesterday. I've owned that car for over 10 years and took it from completely stock to a monster that is easy to drive and fun to thrash. I will miss that car but where I am in my life is I'd like to slow it down a bit and just have some cruisers and the TA deserves better than what I'm will to do with it. I think it's got everything to be competitive in the right hands. The new owner is a good friend of mine and lives less than a mile away from me so we will be seeing each others cars often that's for sure so it's not gone gone. This was not an easy decision but a combination of right place, right time, right person and right price as I had to come up with some cash on the difference. I would never sell this car normally as I don't think I could trust someone to not hurt themselves in it, but the new owner is more than capable of handling it and I'll be able to still see it perform at the track albeit from the sidelines and not in the drivers seat.

Edit: I'm going to turn this into a mini build thread and document some progress

I think the only major change was converter and pro efi upgrade (from haltech). Maybe something with the manifold as well.

You mean after you sold it, correct? When you had it what were the mods? Obviously a single turbo and exhaust. But anything else? Cams, built motor, or so on?

I think that is pretty much it. Biggest thing is the ProEFI as you mentioned. I've always wanted ProEFI for the TA so this is kinda awesome that it's already on the poopra.

So flex-fuel in the future?

I herd a while ago that this thing was running some pretty good times at the drag strip, is this true and ya wana run them in the spring lol
My intention is to not race the car.
I love me a manual, but I don't know if converting it to a manual is the right thing to do here.

That would be a tough choice.
I'm going to hold on to the auto trans in case it makes more sense to revert it back in the future.

I think if I were to build a car specifically for 1/2 mile racing I’d go manual, anything else auto all the way

I just want something fun to play around in, not looking to have a car to race anymore. I miss stick and I think if this car had a t56 it would be a perfect car in that regard. Just as Mook, he'll tell you the biggest holdup on this car is the auto trans and I can agree with that.
