I don't think he has a problem with 3" wide tires, but more of the fat bike brand? You no longer have to go to that brand to get 29 w/ 3" wide.

Well, he made it clear fat tire bikes are stupid, wasteful, pointless, etc.

I went from a 2.25" MTB that couldn't handle light dirt roads without losing traction to a fat tire bike with 26" x 4.7" tires.

For me, it's a lot easier to control the bike and feels effortless going over things.

I can also keep up with the fast guys with small tires as well. Just, not for extended periods of time. (Not being sarcastic here or implying I can pedal a bike 500MPH, lol)

I H A T E D fat tire bikes and laughed at them and thought they were worse than how ilikemtb999 does. Then, I rode several of them, bought one and put over 60 miles on it after 4 rides and loved it.

Mid fat and fat bikes.

Trek put out a mid fat fuel ex press release basically saying if you're scared to corner hard or go over rocky terrain that a mid fat bike was perfect for you

Also this shit has already existed and went away. To get a real tire in a 2.8-3" size it has to be crazy heavy 1200+ grams and then everyone bitches it's too heavy. So anybody that's actually going fast isn't riding that trash. Jared Graves who runs high pressure and ghetto tubeless to not get flats while racing slashed his tires his first race with specialized 2.6 tires (not quite mid fat but close enough).

Fat bikes are a whole other story. They groom trails out here in the winter for them because they don't work in fresh snow. My mtb works just fine on packed snow and actually better than a fat bike on fresh snow.

I didn't think you hated + sized 27.5's I thought just bulbous stupid fat bikes (as I feel the same) trust me had I know you felt that way I wouldn't of enjoyed the bike at all. ;0)
I'm used to a 2.25 or 2.35x 29 tire.. I've ridden roached racing Ralph's in Copper.. it's not a necessity but I did like how the bike rode. <shrugs>

Went and rode my skinny tires in Eagle. I've been here once before but it was after a long weekend in fruita and my group didn't want to do much. Today I rode all of the trails and this place is awesome. They're relatively new trails and whomever designed them likes to have fun. Giant sweeping berms, jumps, option lines and a bmx track at the bottom.

are ceramic bearing performance vs steel noticeable at all? trying to get caught up with all this technology but i'll need to weed through the BS and marketing junk out there.

Upgrading your hubs, bottom brackets and pulley wheels will give you exactly what you need. CeramicSpeed bearings reduce friction, improve power transfer and have greater longevity.
