Yea seriously. I've been looking a lot at them. Rust doesn't seem to be an issue at all with them unlike other 90's vehicles. I've yet to read about any trouble areas or even see one for sale with a hint of rust (at least on the outside).

The only common problem I've seen is the cam plug seals go bad but its a $3 O-ring and looks easy enough to change. Other "issue" is 60k timing belt change intervals but again looks easy and about $130 worth of parts. All other common wear items are cheap.
The pros so far I've found:
4 wheel disc brakes
Third row folds into floor, second row folds flat
T-case is manual and has 2wd hi/4wd hi active diff/4wd hi locked diff/4wd lo locked diff and can be changed up to 62mph
Factory rear air locker is common
99 and older is body on frame
Interiors all look like they hold up real well
No death wobble issues even with lifts
33's fit on stock ride height

I have towed a 23 foot boat more times I can remember behind my xj sport and its really not bad at all. Just be responsible and know your braking limit. My jeep has been DEAD reliable with 150k on it now and would highly recommend one. That camper/tent you posted earlier is really nice but a couple of grand... I prefer camping off my jeep rather than on it lol

true.... but unless you are camping for a week + or somewhere dangerous, lets face it, there is no real point on top of the truck lol.

Oh man, the weight of the boat and trailer... maybe 2,800 lbs?

XJ's are great, but maybe something like a Monetero would allow you to camp IN the vehicle... I'm 5'10" and I can BARELY fit in my XJ on an angle to sleep.

haha I feel ya Frank... I am 6'3 and I wouldnt dream of sleeping in the damn jeep
