At the track torque is what gets you off the lline and horsepower is what keep's you accelerating...


My little 302 makes a little over 100hp per/ltr and rev's to the moon which is what you want a on a N/a motor.

I prefer these definitions for the humor though.

Torque is how many people you take out.



On the serious side? I like a nice flat torque curve that basically holds most of the peak torque from near idle to red-line. That gives an awesome linear response and lots of power too on the top end.

IMO in a full weight street car its just as important to have torque as it is hp.

However, in a purpose built racecar, seems like top end HP is all that matters. Ever see what kind of HP/Tq an F1 car makes?

F1... After just a little looking makes ~1000hp with just 1.6L v6, a turbo and 15,000RPM. :eek4:

I did not notice that AP1 a tuned AP1 will make that, AP2 will make even more than that.
