Less than 10 miles west we have Bays Mountain. Decided to do the hour long hike around the lake.

I'm super jealous of the parks in the south. I went to Alabama for training back in November and had nothing to do for the weekend so wound up at this state park for a 5 mile hike. Place was beautiful and I only explored a small portion. The high crime sign was a little creepy since I was in the middle of nowhere but my guess itā€™s was due to bums or druggies squatting. Didnā€™t see any.

Since we're on the subject of hiking and such, what are people's go-to footware?

I've got a 10 year old pair of cheap TImberlands that need to be replaced, and would like something that can take a beating but won't be like anchors on my feet.

Edit: I think they're the original version of these:

Would like a dedicated hiker, and something lighter for like trails.

I am fucking terrible with hiking footwear :ROFLMAO: . I did the Alabama hike with a pair of New Balance cross trainers. Same ones I wore on tour and didn't want to get dirty. I also wore my adidas flat sneakers on a hike through snow near Tahoe last year. I have an old pair of Under Armor hiking boots and just bought a new pair of Van's but they are more like my winter boots. I'd like to pick up a pair of Adidas Terrex shoes for hiking this summer. I don't like boots when it's hot out.

I've got merrel moab 2's. Unsure which model as I bought them a couple of years ago. But wife and I have decided to climb pikes peak again this year, up the Barr trail. I did it a couple of years ago but she wasn't able to make it and wanted to do it. We've booked some plane ticket for beginning of Aug to head out there.
