Yesterday I traded in my 2014 Jetta 1.8tsi (which was very good, but not enough fun factor) for this 2014 Focus ST ST2 with Recaro and sunroof package. With only 35k on it, I got a great deal at Carmax for it at $16.8k. Stock for now, but I'm researching lighter wheels and tuning options sometime in the next few months.

Congrats, you will love it. If it doesn't have a warranty, Cobb Accessport is a world of a difference from stock.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm looking forward to getting more comfortable with the controls and the handling over the next few weeks.

I was thinking of just doing a filter in the open OEM airbox as it seems they are typically just for more noise on these cars... Do you think the extra cost of a full intake is worth it?

I think it looks nicer. :) But other than that, especially on a stock tune where the computer will limit you no matter what you do, youre right it is mostly for sound. But the injen sounds goooood.

Nice switch! Call me crazy, but I prefer the styling of the 13-14's to the current model.

I drove down to Starved Rock on Monday with my dog and had some fun on Rt 71. The car really sticks well with the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tires and the back end is eager to move around with a little provocation. So far, I'm quite happy with the Recaro seats with being in the car for an hour straight. I'm burning through the 87 octane provided by the dealership, and hoping it feels a little stronger on 93 octane.

I installed a Green filter and just bought a second hand Accessport V3 and flashed it with the most recent Cobb OTS Stage 1 tune that was released a few days ago. Wow! Torque is impressive now, and torque steer is quite apparent. If I go further with any mods like an intercooler or exhaust, I would consider a custom tune. But this feels great right now.

I also was able to get some lightly used Blizzaks in 235/40/18 for the stock wheels from the same guy, so that pretty much means I need to get some nice lightweight 18" wheels for my summer tires now, right? :D

Awesome, I knew you'd enjoy the tune. Even the OTS offer a huge improvement that brings more enjoyment.

So an extra large capacity clothes dryer WILL fit in the back of the hatch. Most of it anyway... :D

That is why hatchbacks rule. I fit a 60 gallon air compressor in the back of mine no problem. The look on the guys face when I said it will work.

93 octane is worth about 15hp according to Ford I think. I think the literature says it makes 237hp @ 87oct, and 252 @ 93oct.

I'm sure you are already noticing the rear is very playful. It loves lift off oversteer and likes to lift the inside rear tire on hard cornering.

The TQ increase with the Cobb OTS tune is impressive. Its something on the order of about 100lb/ft @ 2500rpm, and around 50lb/ft @ 3000rpm. Gains fall off fast as the stock turbo is very small.

But its also super responsive so makes the car fun to drive and feels a ton faster.

There is a thread on the RS forums listing RS (and ST) compatible rims by weight. Not all of them will fit the ST, but most should. Just check the offset.

I've noticed there isn't really a need to go past 6k rpm. The flat foot shifting allowed by the Cobb is pretty sweet for the 3 times I've tried it. It's difficult to trick my mind into keeping my right foot planted while shifting. Oh, and a set of 17.7 lb 18" Konig Ultraforms are already in transit. :D
