why do american cars always do so shit in magazine drag races and then people post actual times/speeds that are way faster?

12.2 @ 119 is terrible for the gt350. that should be deep in the 11s with that trap.

An owner who works at his launch technique over the course of a few months will always do better than a journalist who only has a few hours with the car. Furthermore, it's not like that airport runway in the video is a typical prepped NHRA track with the muscle cars running drag tires... So those AWD and rear/midengine cars with launch control will be able to launch easier and more quickly than the rest.

Way more people racing American cars at the drag strip. There are fast ones, but there are also guys driving C6 Z06s to 13 second quarter miles, you just don't hear about them.

Really fast drivers are faster than journalists, the average driver is much slower than a journalist, you just don't read about the average driver on the internet.

Audi power.

Journalists have cars one or two days at one track, whereas owners will have access to tracks in optimal air, conditions, practice, etc. During a test like this, you might only get 3-4 runs before you have to hop into the next car to finish before the track closes. Once you factor in corrections and rollout, its best to only compare numbers when recorded in the same test by one publication. Comparing numbers between publications is totally useless because of the differences in test procedure, rollout, corrections, etc. There's no standard. Some pubs use rollout in 0-60 mph, which is ridiculous because it's actually measuring 5-60 mph and not true 0-60.
