Usually you cannot take the schooling twice in ONE year...  sometimes if its in another county you can but usually you cannot I am suprised they didn't see the ticket on your driving record, they show up quite quickly...

I think you mean 31+ is a felony. and they usually don't let you leave. Even if you post bail,  31+ is usually the point, where you lose your car.

Also, I doubt he hit 165. I have been up to a little over 155, and it was completly out of control, brakes hardly work, sterring is so sensative. forget the knock issue, it's all about the ability to control at 165.

Plus, honestly, if he was driving that fast, he deserves to get his license taken away. It detracts from other people, who like to casually drive fast. And it's also a menace, that someone that reckless would drive, and endanger our families.

I don't care what kind of driver you are. For those who have been driving at 140+ it is scary, and you are NOT in control.

Not a felony, a misdemenor (sp?) I got pulled over 2-3 years ago going 60 over the posted 55 (so 115mph), posted bail on the spot and had to show up in court at a later date. I got off in court w/a $100 fine, if you want the name of the lawyer I used ill see if i can find his business card. He did a very good job.

165 mph in our cars is probably extremly hard to control........

Brake slightly to hard and your out of control and in a wall...........Breaking that long to slow you down will probably warp your rotors........

A slight bump or curve in the road at 165 and your done........pretty stupid.

*I call bullshit.

I can actually say that i've drive at a 167 MPH on a road.... I was in germany on the autobahn in a brand new mercedes. Seriously. That car at that speed felt like one bump or good gust of wind and I was toast. That car was way more refined than any of our grand prix's are (unless heavily modded for handling) and knowing most roads in the U.S., I don't think this would even be possible.....

I know fo a member that used to be one here that did ~136 mph down route 53 and he almost ended up as road kill..... I think he has a honda odyssey now ! :0 (actually for his airplane hobby...)

I'm sure he was going fast because by reading his stories, he does sound like the type to rage on his car, but either the cops are lying about the speed (good heh) or he's exaggerating....

Anything over 100 MPH is going to be bad for him though.

Yea, right, OK. <_<

No, he doesn't lie unless it's out of harmless fun...he's chain yank'n.
Once again; excessive speed - yea, ticket - probably, 165mph - chain yank'n!
He'll get the biggest kick out of this when he get back online.
I'm betting the Blizzteks are gone now.

Stacy - please don't ever let me get on your bad side!

Charles - I think it was Scott who traded in his GTP for the minivan to load his airplane. He raced a Mitsu VR4 at 138mph - almost lost control - and never did that again.

I thought anything over 100mph and you get taken to jail instantly?

Are his tires rated at 160+mph?

Ive had the GP up to 135mph once on hwy65 going to indianapolis....flat straight boring ass road in the middle of nowhere...and our cars are so unstable at that speed it was scary. one little hump in the road it felt like it took a half a mile for the car to settle back down. then try slowing down at that speed...stock brakes cannot handle that speed and will pulse, and the pedal gets so hard you almost feel like you have no brakes. then to get pulled over going 100mph over the speed limit and just have to pay a fine? wouldnt that be instant time in jail, car towed etc?

so with that said...I feel like the flag has to be raised

:bsflag:

I dont know but I would bet money that this story isnt true...lately i dont believe half the stories around here anyways. but they are good for a laugh during my workday.

Well I can definitely verify that this is not true, dont ask me why tho

I think it has alot to do with the cop, your driving record, and how wreckless the situation was....

The fastest I've gone in a car is around 140-150ish, but in a '79 Cutlass...and it was a hairy ride, but not too bad. Physically I think it's possible for a GTP that is modded right to hit that speed, so for me it's plausible on a long stretch of road, but maybe not so believeable since I don't know his mods.

The speed thing doesn't really phase me all that much since my bike days. I'd get it up to 150+ all the time on local roads, and had it to an indicated 200 on I88, and an indicated 180 on 75th in Naperville.

But it feels a lot less scary on a bike at those speeds compared to a car.

any car, sans lambos, porshes, ferarris, etc, cannot really take higher speeds 130 and above without serious risks. brakes, environment, etc. It IS BS, but then again, this is coming from a guy who claims no kr on a low modded car! more bs. also, didn't he post up that he bought valve springs, cam, tb, etc. and needed help putting them on??? that would explain his lack of knock.

130mph, 3.1pully, barely any supporting mods, and no KR?

Maybe he should look into getting some new knock sensors. or at least make sure their working correctly.

Maybe we should all demod our cars so we can get less knock...

I thought John said no bashing or flaming??

Besides. Like I said before. It doesnt matter if he gets knock at 100+. He is shoving too much air into the engine without letting it out. Its called BOOST STACKING. Its also called common sense.
