sub frame connectors

ordering some UMI three point sub frame connectors this week. im probably gettin the bolt ons and do it myself and have my budy weld em up when he gets time. ive heard its best to take it to somwhere and get it done though cuz if i do it wrong i could twist the chassis. anyone got any tips or suggestions?

You should be able to do it, mine were pretty easy. I dont think you can twist the unibody by putting them on wrong, they only fit one way.

When yiou lift the car make sure its lifted from the wheels, so its in it's stance as though it's on the ground.

yea i figured that but some peeps on ls1.com said it would be best to have someone with a lift do it. how did u jack yours up? i heard on the lower control arms to make it like the cars suspension is loaded

I know the guy that owns Merlins in Wheaton, he installed them for me, they have a drive on lift, so it was all good.

I don't remember, this was way back when in like 2002. I had the BMR subframe connectors that we bolted and welded on, along with the BMR LCRs.

Jack stands under the a-arms and rear axle work just as good... I've done several weld in sets in my garage this way.

We just drop the wheels on a set of those ride up car ramps and it sits just like it does on the ground and weld them up. Thats how we did my UMI 3 points.

We would charge 3 hours ($300) to put them in, we would just drive it up on our four post. Let me know if your interested, but if anything this is a starting point for you as far as a price goes. Just make sure whoever does the welds actually knows how, we have had some real hack jobs role threw. If its not a good weld its not gana do anything!
