Default 4.10 gears too much with a supercharger? 4th gen LS1 fbody M6

Looking to start modifying my car after owning it for 5 years now. (Finally) I wanna get a 4.10 or 4.11 gear and some 315 tires on zr1 replica rims. Is this way too much gear if I put on a centrifugal supercharger in the future? I know the diff is gonna need to be replaced if I did go that route.

Also where's a good shop around here that can do the ring and pinion for me?

3.55's is where it's at on a blower car. The 3.55's will keep you in the power band longer!

A 3.73 would be the highest I would go.

Learn how to do the ring and pinion yourself and save some coin, it's not too hard in my opinion.

well I do have a lift... I guess I've just been told if you don't set the lash right you will have premature failure and a constant whining noise.

My honest opinion with u being a m6 I'd buy a new rear end before messing with gearing in a 10bolt. It will eventually self destruct..

But back to your original question. 3.73 all day

When using the same carrier it doesn't require as much set up as when starting starting with a new carrier atleast in my experience.

The trick is to reem out the center of a pair of setup pinion bearings so you can install and take them off easily multiple times to get the propper pinion shim depth. The carrier shims should remain the same side to side and those bearings don't usually go bad so no need to replace them. The pinion bearings obviously need to be replaced as well as their races need to be beat out and replaced to match the new bearings.

The pinion nut tension is important you will need a inch lb wrench. Too tight will smoke the bearings and too loose and the gears will have to much movement and eat eachother.

I think Flyn in these forums had a 4.10 on his 03 Cobra and it was too much. He switched to a taller gear eventually. Maybe he will chime in.

I have 4.10's with my centri setup and 1st is pretty useless, sometimes 2nd. Contemplating 3.73's maybe 3.55's.

Every car, motor/trans setup is different. Just my experience.

general rule of thumb is anything over 4.xx is for NA cars.. one you boost it you need to go to a taller gear

I had 4.10s in my Terminator Cobra for a while.

Way too much overkill for a blower motor. Could literally spin the wheels and kick the back end out at 80 mph.

Yea but was that with the stock roots blower? Those hit the tire alot harder when you punch the gas from what I've read.

Stock blower. Ported and polished with fuel, intake, exhaust mods and tune.

I disagree that 4.10's won't work with a blower. A twin screw yea probably not, to much low end torque. But with a Centri blower they don't make a lot of low end torque. Also you could tune with a BOV to control boost along curve. If I were to swap my Cobra to a F1A my next mod would be to a 4.10

Depends on what you're doing. Buddy had 4.10 and a twin screw cobra. Helps those 28" slicks.

I have 3.73 and about 70 more hp and I could use 4.10's at the track. But to be honest I blow away the tires at most street speeds easily with 3.73's
