Another issue I found yesterday.

I was washing the wheels and noticed that the front drivers wheel has a band of rust on it. It's about as wide as a dime. The wheel was covered in more brake dust than all the others, so I'm guessing its really tearing up the pad.

Anyone know if I'm going to have any luck asking the dealer to try to get that fixed under warranty? It obviously happened while sitting on their lot...

Just checked the owner's manual about brakes: "Brake pad/lining replacements will be provided during the first 12 months or 18,000 miles in service, whichever occurs first."

Sounds like "lot rust". Hopefully your dealer is cool since I've read of guys getting hassled.

That's exactly what it is. Rust from sitting since August. Car was parked with 1200mi on it... in the elements outside. Yeah, its going to rust.

No doubt in my mind that it should be covered, but I've heard of prick dealers giving people a hard time.

Did you try re-bedding the brakes? That might fix it.

That's Ford's answer for everything. I had some random (and still do) vibration at exactly 40 mph, any gear. They decided that my rotors were slightly warped and cut them. I was quite irritated when the service manager told me that, and especially because he didn't tell me he was going to first.

I thought that was only for the 05-09's? I saw that kit from a Ford wholesaler when I was trying to find an answer to refitting the stock stereo with Sync that Dan asked about earlier in the thread.

Is there any degradation in performance, wear, or longevity for rotors that have been cut this early in their life? My whole thought process was now the rotors are thinner (although they claim negligible amount of material is cut), which means they are more prone to heat and cool quicker, thus increasing the chances of warping and quicker wear.

well buy me a blower. I promise I will install it and tune car ASAP.

Ya, I stopped by Saturday. There are some mechanical issues with the engine/car. Did some tests to rule a few things out. He has to do some more looking into the issues.

How about this....You buy me a 2011+ 5.0 and I will buy you a blower.

Yeah, they were working on it Friday night when I stopped by. We were discussing the "MEN" sticker that they put on the Capri.
