Last summer the wife and I started to really think about a travel trailer. We would leave up at the Chain so we could spend our wknds on the boat since we have 45-60min drive up to the lake. The only issue is our current marina which we like does not allow travel trailers, only park models ( which we do not want since they are harder to sell if needed). Like mentioned before the cost of new Vs used I can't see buying anything but new. You do get what you pay for and appliances for these trailers are fricken expensive. You don't go to Sears/Best buy to buy a fridge or washer dryer. Here is the trailer we have had our eyes on, and once we find a marina we like that allows travel trailers we may pull the trigger.

ever considered buying a lot up there and parking whatever the hell you want on it?

off of fox lake rd and 12, there's someone with a lot and a travel trailer parked, boat docked out back on the channel. I don't know what a dinky lot costs though. And, you can eventually build on it for a "real" weekend home

We have, one thing to consider after the purchase of the trailer is on average it's 3-5k a year paid to marina to keep trailer there, which includes electric, water and pumps out(usually) ideally a house off the water would be best but we couldn't swing two houses. Moving up to lake would make my commute to work a nightmare working in the city. I haven't seen to many empty lots that are off the water where I would be able to keep my boat. Also, would need water and electric.
