Well after talking with a few people, reading reviews and watching YouTube Videos I went with a Miele.

The thing that sold me was a guy dumping a ton of shit on carpet. (sand, kitty litter, hair, etc) Then vacuuming it with a new Dyson Animal whatever. Then vacuuming it again with the Miele. I was amazed on how mich shit the Miele picked up after the Dyson already made a few passes.

I made a few test hits around the house and I really like this thing. Only thing I hate is the cord and the fact that it probably weights 40 pounds. Stuff I am going to have to live with for power tho

On a related note my sister bought my dad a knockoff Aldi Cordless Dyson. I will report back with my findings.

buy new ones.

shouldn't be too hard to find them if you have a model and serial number off of the vacuum.

Ok i'll ping the company or a reseller, for all I know that color is normal, it seems like almost full brush length is there..

Confirm that new brushes won't help much if the motor itself has this wear and no longer copper color?

Get some fine sandpaper and run it across the commutator and see what happens. You may want to check for continuity across the coils as well could have a dead spot. Lastly, your windings don't look like they're melted which is a good thing.

i had an actual cordless dyson and i thought it was garbage.

i wish i would have seen this post sooner...i would have suggested buying a Rainbow vacuum via ebay. i used to sell them as a living, so i have seen/used all kinds of vacuums, and none of them ever beat the rainbow! it's ability to use water as the filter instead of bags/paper makes it far superior, plus it is a certifies air purifier, so instead of nasty ass exhaust (bacteria filled) you get fresh, clean air. we sold them for $2100 at time of demonstration, but they can be had on ebay for around $500

this is the model i sold, if you watch ebay, you can find them cheaper on occasion. hell, my buddy found one on craigslist the other day, bought the whole kit for $200 because it wasn't working, replaced a belt and sold it on ebay the same week for $800.

that's the same model i used at home also. they have a newer model, but i think the only difference is the appearance and they added a light in the water tank.

Had a Dyson DC28 Animal for a few years and was never overly impressed. My Shark Rotator Pro performs better at a 1/4 of the cost- though she is showing her age.

Have some $5-600 dyson v8. Absolutely SHITS on any vacuum I have ever seen or used.

I like my Kirby Ultimate G series. Inherited it from my mom because she found it too heavy to maneuver. But man does it suck up everything. Single pass and all the hair is gone from the carpet.

they are cheap on eBay too.

I had a sitter in the 80s who had one of those Rainbows that used water for filtration. Always seemed so cool. Empty it in the toilet.
