I am pretty sure this car was modified when new by SVS, it has their headers on it and someone on Viper alley mentioned SVS doing a package deal with headers/exhaust, rockers, and rear end gears. Mine also has a 3.45 rear end according to the previous owner

If it has an svs tune, be careful. The only thing they did right was their headers were stepped and made good power. Those headers are impossible to find and were 4k iirc. They only made them for a few years. If svs is still in west Chicago, DON'T go there.

They weren't finished like that, they were bare. But that doesn't mean the last owner didn't coat them. Look farther down, driver side, you should see a step, and quite possibly a tag welded on. Sorry hard to tell from that pic.

Haha, yes does sound like theirs. My opinion, this is if there is still a demand for these headers. Sell them and get a set of 2000-2002 headers. They flow great, are cheap, and have no issues. I made over 1k rwhp with a set of stock 2000 gts headers on my gts.

I think I'm gonna leave them on, put on a new cat back and replace the previous owners cat delete hack job and call it done. If I can't find anyone local to tune it, I may buy a SCT from Roe with their custom tune for my mods.

Then all I need to do is either chrome the wheels or swap them out for something much easier to clean

I really didn't want another project car, I wanted a driver

If you want no maintenance and those are svs, take them off. There used to be a guy in st Louis that tunes gen2. Performance by Joe I tHink. He had good rep in the day. If you are going to modify on a budget, take it to Levin.

Yes, 1996-1999 did. That's one reason I went with a 1997, it was the second year for the GTS, it was one of 2 years for blue and white, and the cam/internal engine components.

1996 and 1997 were the only two years for blue and white. I figured the second year they figured out the bugs

My friend who also has a 97 GTS says stay away from SVS. He is running the stock tune. They run pig rich stock. He has full exhaust and it's still safe rich. As far as I know most people even dodge tuners won't/can't tune them.
