🔧 BUILD My junker Buick revival....

General Information

Doubt anybody cares but figured I had my cucv build here so why not. This is my first car when I was 16, it's a 1970 Buick gran sport. It was slightly less junk then but not by much. It got parked after the trans gave way as well as the brakes. It sat for many years outside and then a few years in a garage. I was finally able to go and get it last week.

The uncovering aka barn find status.

Emersonhart13 and I were able to get it on to the trailer (my brother helped)

Getting it off the trailer turned into a hell of a thing as well. A neighbor walking by was kind enough to help out.

Got her over to her spot so the wife can potentially park in the garage again

Got to work today on it. Checked the oil and threw a battery in it. Gave it a bit of spray and she fired right up. Steady oil pressure and a bit of an exhaust leak. Seemed to idle oh so nice for sitting for a good 8 years. RAN WHEN PARKED

Yep, leaking.

Wasn't done for the day. Decided that since the engine seemed all good for now, might as well get going on the trans.

I need to finish that thing too

Realized the other day I have no idea where my front sway bar went so I'll have to get a new one of those. Stock was I think just under 1". Found some good deals on 1.25" ones. Also plan on adding a rear too. Was also thinking of going to taller ball joints (.9" taller). They put the upper control arm into the camber curve vs stock where it goes positive before negative. Cheaper and easier than going to a tall spindle.

Been working on the car the last two days. Trans mount and crossmember back in. Driveshaft is too long so I'll have to get that shortened. Need to talk to the shop about using my long th400 yoke. The trans has room for the whole thing to go inside :naughty: so not sure why it would be an issue.

Starting to clean up some wiring. I got it a bit hacked together and teenage me didn't help

Also got 90% of my brake shit. Need to source a disc/disc master cylinder and waiting on wheel bearings from Amazon.

they will be able to use the long yoke, the th400 issue is that some tailshafts have a bulge that keeps the long yokes from seating, these tranny's have short yokes.

as long as its full spline and it goes in they/you shouldn't have a problem using it

if it has seal wear rings, make sure you put them away from the seal when measuring tube length

The yoke for sure goes all the way in. Only issue would be that it does have some gunk on the last 2" or so because it stuck out of the tail shaft on the cucv.

Stripped down one bike and built another today so not a ton of vehicle progress. Got my wheel bearings packed and installed on the rotors and pads/stainless brake lines on. Still need to pull the master cylinder and figure out a new one and then replace the front to rear brake line (as well as the rear braided line).

I've been working on boring stuff. Made all new brake lines (except rear axle).
Mounted my new master cylinder and proportioning valve. (Still need to make a bracket to hold it)

Attempted to install my new pedals but turns out that's another thing different from chevelles so new ones are in the mail.

Got my carpet and seats pulled for floor stuff. Welded up 9 holes from previous owners  Floors are cleaner than I remember.
Got my shifter and rods mounted. Started mocking up seat brackets and called it a day. I for sure sat in the drivers seat and shifted my trans, shifter is awesome :fy:

Need to get my taller ball joints and front shocks in.

Waiting on a floor hump for the shifter, pedals and a new shift knob.
