🔧 BUILD My junker Buick revival....

General Information

Doubt anybody cares but figured I had my cucv build here so why not. This is my first car when I was 16, it's a 1970 Buick gran sport. It was slightly less junk then but not by much. It got parked after the trans gave way as well as the brakes. It sat for many years outside and then a few years in a garage. I was finally able to go and get it last week.

The uncovering aka barn find status.

Emersonhart13 and I were able to get it on to the trailer (my brother helped)

Getting it off the trailer turned into a hell of a thing as well. A neighbor walking by was kind enough to help out.

Got her over to her spot so the wife can potentially park in the garage again

Got to work today on it. Checked the oil and threw a battery in it. Gave it a bit of spray and she fired right up. Steady oil pressure and a bit of an exhaust leak. Seemed to idle oh so nice for sitting for a good 8 years. RAN WHEN PARKED

Yep, leaking.

Wasn't done for the day. Decided that since the engine seemed all good for now, might as well get going on the trans.

So trans is in. That was fucking hard. I miss working on trucks.

Still waiting on my shifter but it looks like the hole will be right where the old auto cable goes thru so that's good. Need to order a bunch of small shit like shift fork boot, trans mount, master cylinder and a pedal.

Also got half my brake shit. Waiting on the other half to come in. Need to get some rotors for that too.

Been working on the car the last two days. Trans mount and crossmember back in. Driveshaft is too long so I'll have to get that shortened. Need to talk to the shop about using my long th400 yoke. The trans has room for the whole thing to go inside :naughty: so not sure why it would be an issue.

Starting to clean up some wiring. I got it a bit hacked together and teenage me didn't help

Also got 90% of my brake shit. Need to source a disc/disc master cylinder and waiting on wheel bearings from Amazon.

I like shiny and new parts. Did you modify the stock break size at all or just go with new blanks?
Just went with stock style stuff, it had drum brakes all around. New bendix calipers, new AC Delco rotors and some earls braided lines. Haven't decided on pads yet. Plan on getting discs for whatever rear end I get.

I got the disc spindles and stuff like 10-12 years ago off a parts car. Stock style disc conversions were like $800-900 back then. Now people are putting 4th gen f body brakes on and stuff. Maybe some day I'll go bigger but 11" rotors have to be better than drums. Plus they use the same pads as the original brakes on my blazer so they must be able to slow down 5,000lbs
