Hard to hear, but likely in pieces....

My buddies Evo IX was one of the first ones yanked two years ago and they're over 20 in the area now stolen. The break in and drop a new computer in it to bypass the immobilizer and they're off..... They park it for a day somewhere inconspicuous to see if LoJack or anyone comes to find it and if not it gets gutted....

They found my buddies EB IX a few days later on a side street a gutted shell and covered with an oily film so you can't get prints.... The only reason the police knew it was his is because the thieves didn't look in the visor and that's where he kept his insurance card......

The Midwest section of the Evo-m forums is packed with these stories.... The rumor that was going around was one of the local shops involved but who knows.....

My friend sold his '99 civic si to some guy, told him to keep it hidden from thieves. Only took 3-4 weeks before it was gone. He had that car for 4 years and nearly 100,000 miles, this guy leaves it in an apartment complex parking lot, bam gone. Two more weeks later, I got a picture sent to me of a completely stripped red si.

The foreman I work with paid a small amount for a GPS tracker. I could get some info if anybody would like about what he got. So if your car gets stolen, it can be found in real time if I'm not mistaken. Or if you want to track a wife/gf. :hsugh: Lol.

Sorry to hear about this E. I'll keep my eyes out for anything whenever I go to different jobsites all over cook county.

A cheap way to do this is with a pay as you go phone with GPS. Mute it and hide it in your car with a 12v line to it so it never dies. Android has plenty of software you can put on a phone to track remotely

LowJack works well around here. Because of it most cars are parked in a spot and left for a couple days to see if the police track it. Most any police car you see with the 4 antenne set is running lowjack.

Yup, the squads with 4 antenne set up in a square on the roof have LoJack recovery trackers in them. They're not usually on though...

Quite a few of the thefts are in oak park/elmwood park. My buddies who's was stolen was taken in Elmwood Park and found two blocks into Chicago.... The police were guessing the chop shop was right in that area....

One of the best theft items are called revelco. They wire into your wiring harness and the car won't start without the revelco key put in it, even if they swap the computer.

Escort (the radar people) make a theft gps that's pretty nice as well, but the downside is you only know once it's stolen. Plus after its found the thieves now know there's a tracker and can try to find it....
