I was talking more about the lingo you speak [emoji23]

sometimes I wish I knew less

paranoia can really become an issue when you see every fucking thing has vulnerabilities and only half the time they get patched.

my Router hasnt had a firmware update since 2016... that was the last time the manufacturer put one out. These things can last 5+ years easily and they just stop supporting the stuff 2-3 years out.

New router showed up as I was leaving for work. Will set up tonight.

Im actually more excited to see if my wifi speed gets better. The best I could pull on my phone before was 25MPBS on 5GHz, but Ive seen other people's speedtests on their routers pulling in way higher numbers.

You talking about something like this?

This is off my phone and with my Internet being a bit "wonky" right now. Need to do a factory reset and set everything back up to see if it helps. If not then need to call customer service. Screenshot_20180526-175702_Speedtest.jpg

Yeah...there's one reason I went cheap router. Comcast is only providing me 95 mbps, so why would I get a router that has ridiculous specs, when all I need is something that'll give me at least 150 up/down. I don't have a big place, and the cheap router is stable and has great coverage.

Ehhh, no LAN usage, and how much could I really tell in the traffic management? .5ms?

I went from 90 to 119MPBS just with my router switch. Pay for the blast, which is 100MPBS. I could also tell a bit of difference when doing plex to my amazon TV which is wired to a gigabit switch to the gigabit router which is then wired to the computer.

So yeah, it does make a difference. My wifi went from 30 to 119MBPS as well.

This was switching from the Linksys E2500 to the Asus AC1900. FWIW, the E2500 was more expensive when I bought it.

I got nervous.

It really was time tho. There hasnt been a new firmware update to my old router since like 2016. And it was definitely holding me back from what speeds I could have been getting.

Here's a comparison from my computer before and after, which is wired directly to the router

Should be all good now!
