Can we talk about this Cubs team?

The Cubs are moving Travis Wood to the bullpen and Japanese lefty Tsuyoshi Wada is expected to join the rotation in Wood's place, but no official word will be made until Sunday.

The Cubs signed Wada to a one-year, $4 million deal in the offseason, but the 34-year-old starter was placed on the disabled list with a groin injury to start the season. His last rehab start was Thursday with Triple-A Iowa.

Wada impressed in 13 starts down the stretch for the Cubs in 2014, going 4-4 with a 3.25 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He initially signed with the Orioles out of Japan, but his career in Baltimore was derailed by arm injuries, including a Tommy John surgery in May 2012.

Wood appeared in relief Saturday and picked up his first career save, working a perfect ninth inning.

Was confused today seeing wood come in for reliever duty after seeing him start on Thursday.

Another fun game to be at today! You can honestly feel the excitement of the fans at the games now. It's a whole new atmosphere at the park compared to the last 7+ years and it sure makes baseball fun again.

Also really enjoying the new bleachers and the big screens. Though can't see the one that shows all the replays since I've been sitting in the left field bleachers. The bars behind the bleachers are a lot better and nice to have premium draft beers instead of just Bud/Bud Light.

I have to disagree. The v10 in the M5 is just a thing of beauty and outclasses the 6 cylinder turbo engines in the 535 in every way. What the v10 loses in daily drivability, it makes up ten fold in pure soul with high revving goodness. The driving dynamics of the M5 also outclass any other car of that size on the road. The 535 is a regular car, the M5 is an exotic guised as family sedan.

This seems like an interesting move. What is he going to be? Middle relief? He doesn't seem like a closer.

Baseball in Chicago is definitely a lot more fun when both teams are doing well. Cubs and Sox are both on a roll right now, makes the cross town series a lot more valuable.

...& a heck of a lot more interesting.

Although ... when those 2 teams battle (or the Cubs & Cardinals, etc.), it doesn't really matter what the records are ... any lead really isn't safe, no matter what.

Anyway, I'm just glad the 3 games at both parks are back ON THE WEEKEND.

For the Cubs, this season has the rumblings of a magical year, like 1984 (the Sandberg game), 1989 (the boys of Zimmer), & maybe even 1998.

We need one more starter, preferably a veteran and a couple veteran bullpen guys. We have a lot of young pitching which is why they're collapsing into themselves 50% of the time they get a base runner and then fall behind in the count. It's like shit, they got someone on base with nobody out and the pitcher is in a 1-0 count. 50% of the time in that situation the wheels seem to fall off the wagon. A couple veterans are going to help calm them down so they're not in a full blown panic in those situations.

Right now it's like we got a team full of Carlos Marmols.

Am I the only person that this drives nuts ??? When people say "we" about the team they like as if they're on the teams payroll?

I'm not a Cubs fan but they do have a bunch of young talent and their future looks bright if they continue to make strong moves like they have been.

This team is going to be very dangerous if they win the play in game. Still dont trust the bullpen and wish they had a solid #3 in the rotation. But Maddon has these boys on a roll and have been most of the 2nd half, so win that play in game and anything can happen!

It's already pretty much a lock to have Arrieta pitch the play-in game...as long as they give him some run support, they'll be fine.
