Picked this up a month or so ago at this point from a good friend of mine. Traded Roger's Suburban plus money to me for this 2001 Z71 Tahoe. Truck had just over 120,000 miles (100,000 less than Suburban) and is stupid clean. Zero rust under the body cladding, just a little on the drivers rear door that I'm going to address in the spring.
So far I've done little shit to it here and there. Spare was in the trunk when I got it and I came to find out the aftermarket hitch on the truck wouldn't let it fit in its normal location. Swapped it over to a stock one I had laying around and put a new hoist in to replace the rotted one. Installed a brake controller while I was at it as well.
Whoever owned it before my friend went ape shit with plasti-dip on the wheels, bumpers and all the body cladding so I soaked it with WD-40 and power washed it off, took some time but it's 100% gone now.
-Windows need re-tint. Faded/chipped and only 35%
-Someone put a nice head unit in, good components in the doors and a 10" MB Quartz sub in the factory location but wired it all through the OEM Bose amplifiers so it sounds like ass, need to wire a 4-channel and mono in once I get some time
-Tailgate has a gash in it from a trailer mishap, trying to find a black one so I can just bolt it on.
-Attempting to piece together a plow setup for it for Hayward and my house/family in the area, since they call me to clear snow anyways with a shovel/snow blower.
Plasti-dip removal
You can see the gash in the gate here, stickers came with the truck, I left them on for a weekend and decided I liked all my glass in tact so took them off
Hoggin quads around.. Chester Copperpot creepin' in the background.
There's two directions I kinda want to go with this truck. One is more off-roady, better for what I use it for and the torsion bars will already be cranked for the plow... Plus my DuraKon is going to be lowered so I don't really need two dumped SUV's...
But on the other hand, I threw my friends 22's off his Escalade on it last night when he took them off for his winters and it's making a damn valid argument for big wheels lol. Also the only handy pic I have now that the Plasti-dip is all off the truck.
So yeah, I've got this now. I like it, maybe I'll own it for a few years, maybe it'll be up for sale next week. The world may never know.
